This would mean when you check out at the grocery store, you pay the full price for dairy products and other products that are subsidized by the federal government instead of the price that shows up on the display screen.

After all, I know you don't want to be a hypocrite and inconsistent.

That would also include states like South Carolina whose Republican dominated legislature accepts billions in federal funds to balance their budget.

This would mean the SC DOT should turn down hundreds of millions of dollars for the Carolina Crossroads project in Columbia.

In the mean time, the Trump administration is planning to spend even more money- more money on weapons systems at the Pentagon that the US Air Force doesn't even want and doesn't need.

Oddly enough, the federal government never filed evidence of the protective order in court.

The "elite" schools just happen to be schools in areas that do not generally support Donald Trump.

Are you talking about their endowment? Because that's the issue and what's been targeted at Harvard. Clemson and USC, for example, have near $1billion dollar endowments. The University of Mississippi's endowment is estimated to be near $800 million.

Endowments are not the same as the budgeted money of a school.

Do you want the next Democrat administration targeting South Carolina and Mississippi's endowments in red states because they don't have hate crime laws?

You can't target the tax exempt status of certain thing non-profits (college endowments) and ignore the status with other non-profits (charities, churches, etc)

Many college endowments are set up to fund charitable causes within a university system. Many endowments help off-set tuition costs at universities. For example, at Harvard, a student whose family income is less than $200,000 a year goes to school for free. That's because of their endowment.

Congress is NOT going to change the law and the President, under our system, doesn't get to target those he/she doesn't like and single them out because he/she wants to.

Courts don't like it when entities are targeted specifically, especially when the law is clear and covers them.

My son is a Junior at USC right now. I have already had one graduate.

My son has had no debt- not even a penny. He went to technical college and graduated in 2 years with the university transfer option - tuition free- under the program that is available in our area for high school graduates with a good GPA.

He is now in his 2nd semester at USC. I use our 529 plan to pay myself back for his tuition and fees. No loans.

No grants (we make too much money for a grant).

It is 100% possible.

The only issue I had with student loan forgiveness were students that were suckered into student loans by organizations that promised one thing and delivered another.

I will give some very specific examples:

1) Refinancing or consolidating federal loans through a private lender but doing so resulted in the loss of lawful protections. A number of lenders contacted student loan borrowers and their families and promised lower finance rates, but failed to disclose to them that refinancing through the private lender would disqualify the student from loan forgiveness plans passed by Congress like the program that allows certain people to work for public service organizations and have part of their loan forgiven.

2) A number of lenders (including a huge one) failed to re-amortize consolidated loans.

3) Lenders unfairly denied discharge applications for borrowers who were eligible based on Total and Permanent Disability status.

4) Lenders inaccurately claimed certain borrowers were ineligible for autopay discounts or falsely advertised to borrowers that they could suspend their loan payments if they lost their job but later refused to allow the borrower to delay repayment through a grace period.

5) Several large lenders included provisions that would allow schools to illegally withhold students’ academic transcripts or access to classes and other education services in the case of default. This is against federal law.
