Didn't Beamer say Connor would be a coach on staff? I know he was an interim QB coach. I just haven't heard anything lately.

Beamer talked about hiring support staff to help him but I don’t believe they’ve ever explained what it is that he will be doing.

I assumed it was going to be something similar to what Lattimore's role used to be.
That’s actually what Connor was hired for, and what he was doing until pressed into emergency service as QB coach when Bobo became interim HC. My understanding is that Connor wanted to go back to his original role, and will be staying in that capacity

As others noted, Shaw didn’t want to be an onfield coach at this time.

What you may be remembering, is Beamer stated he still hoped to get him involved in an onfield position now, or soon.

He’s probably wanting to enjoy his family life a bit before entering the grind of coaching.

Is Connor the problem? Doesn’t want to work in the real world, doesn’t want to coach, doesn’t want to work too hard? Has he peaked out in college?

I know what he did, but is their anything else he wants to do?

He has a blank check with us and still he is hesitant.

I believe this is a fair question.

You seem to be implying that he is lazy.

Do you know what he does now? If not then listen, listen and listen.

I could see someone not wanting the stress of being an on field coach. Recruiting, recruiting and recruiting all the time. I imagine it’s probably very hectic schedule and always busy. Fans love him now. But if his unit starts losing games he will get roasted on social media. Maybe Shaw saw what the job is like and decided that a Coach isn’t what he wants to be when he grows up. On the other hand position coaches get paid very well and can lead to head coaching positions which pay VERY well. Millions and millions. Hard to turn an opportunity like that down.

Connor has a young family. Any on the field coach will work ridiculous hours and travel frequently recruiting. That is not for everyone. Connor does not do anything halfway. Right now his focus is on his young family. Once his children are a little older he may feel that he can devote the time required to football. But he is doing what is best for him and his family now.

TBH, it’s posts like this that make this forum, and many other forums sickening.

WTF is wrong with you? Honest question...

I think Connor is a big asset to the program in whatever role he chooses

Connor Shaw was a generational player. Not so much for his talent at QB (though he was a very good one...in spite of some fans who spout revisionist history) but simply b/c of his mental makeup. Those caliber of players don't come along very often. We need someone like him to have that attitude permeate the program.
