What are you grilling for the 4th?

I am grilling up some big nasty EXPLOSIONS! Just dropped a bill on fireworks… Technically I think you are only supposed to shoot them on the 4th in Wcola, but I only have my daughter tonight and the show must go in- hope my neighbors are not dicks!

If I go to a Fireworks display, whether it be city/county sponsored I'm fine with with it.
Dropping a serious $$ on fireworks, I just don't get it.
Not casting aspersions on anyone who choses to engage in this activity, just not something I would chose to drop my $$$ money on.

For us, nothing really fancy; hamburgers, bocks, FF, and Cole Slaw on the side. I did forget we are having corn on the cob, homemade Blueberry Cobbler and Vanilla Ice Cream.

Tried prime burgers. They were on sale and I thought I would try them, thinking they would taste; well, like a burger. They were the best I have had in a while.

I get that… Nothing is a more literal example of watching your money “go up in smoke” than spending it on fireworks right? For me that was always something my Dad did with my brother and I when we were kids and it is something I can do with my daughter now! I’d spend double or triple what I spent on those fireworks to see that smile on her face, hear the squeals of delight, and get that big hug and thanks from her when I out her to bed at night. I have always been a fan of fireworks and watched a big show tonight put on by professionals but shooting them off myself has always been something I enjoy.

I have no idea.. I haven’t seen that. They are illegal in some states, I suppose that could be a reason. They can start fires, but it had rained for two days straight prior to this weekend in SC so I was not the least bit worried about that here. People complain about everything these days online..

I did some baby back ribs yesterday. We decided to try a dry rub using a recipe my wife saw on a cooking show. They were very good, but I have decided I'm not a big fan of dry ribs.

Our family was in the mountains (Sevierville/Pigeon Forge) celebrating my parents 50th, 22 people in all. One of the best 4ths ever, the whole family was there...kids, grands, great-grands.

Friday night (traveling day), Publix wings and Papa Johns pizza. Friday night dad and I put a 20lb brisket on the pellet grill about midnight, wrapped it in foil about 8am Saturday, took it off about 2pm, rested for 3 hours, and then sliced. Baked potatoes, squash casserole, salad, and various desserts to go along with it. Sunday evening it was burgers and hot dogs. Plenty of beer and wine was consumed, and Blantons and Eagle Rare for the bourbon drinkers.

Our rental was pretty high elevation, so we were able to watch numerous fireworks displays from the porch, was awesome.
