We talk about this guy to be an HC...or this guy. Must have a bonafide HC; or must be an up & coming OC/DC....Must be a great recruiter.
You really only see a HC having anything to do w recruiting on official visits or being that closer that dances w Mom as SOS did w Marcus' Mom. GA & Elliott are the best recruiters on the staff...not SOS.
Muschamp and Kiffin seem to be great recruiters; but have not faired well at schools that should be "cake jobs."
On the other hand, Pat Fitzgerald (Northwestern) and Mark Dantonio (Mich St) seem to be average recruiting HCs but are always in the mix for the Big 10 and more. Dabo is a bag man at the All In Cookout...but we have seen prior to some staff additions, he could not coach his way out of a sack. Ray Goff was rumored to be an X & O idiot; but had a great staff around him.
Only SOS is really a major Saturday play caller as a HC.
