That you attended or even watched on TV, listened to on the Radio.

1. Who was it?
2 Where was it?
3 What was special about it
4 Who did you share it with.

For me, I have been to a lot of great wins in my time following the gamecocks. There have been more prominent wins that I’ve witnessed, but the circumstances and who I Shared it with is what made my #1!

1994 Carquest bowl at Joe Robbie. There was hope with Brad Scott. We had some athletes that could really ball. Stanley Pritchett on the shovel pass comes on mind. We had never won a bowl. It was my last year at Carolina and there was hope that we would finally win a Bowl. My close “major” friend group of about 10 had either graduated that December or the coming May so lots of us were all going different directions. We all had scraped our college pennies and got a hotel in Ft Lauderdale for about 4 days. The South Florida weather was outstanding and the friendships and hanging out was special.

The game was actually Jan 2, 1995 so by New Years we were getting anxious for a bit event. We were broke, but the National Championship Game was going to be at the Orange Bowl in little Havana. Miami versus Nebraska. Me and a buddy were like man we may never get a chance like this again. Let’s make it happen. We drove his new used “graduation” blazer down to old Orange Bowl thru some crazy places. Lol. We actually scored some tickets for like $100 each on the 45. Couldn’t believe it, but he was like I am not parking my car in somebodies back yard (lots of the Cuban community parked cars in their yards for like 10 bucks. I was like dude we’re not going to miss this game. I said let me out. I see a guy walking out of the Miami Scholarship parking lot like right next to the stadium. I said excuse me sir have you parked your car in here. He said yes. I was like do you have an extra pass because I will give you $50 for it. He said no but you don’t need the pass once you get passed the guard so I will go get mine and give it you. It was open parking for the bowl. We made the exchange and I met my buddy when he circled back. He was all frustrated because he couldn’t find parking and I whipped out the pass and we walked right in to watch that tremendous National Championship game. Nebraska and Tom Osborne won it all.

The next day we head over to Joe Robbie (the upscale stadium) and had our seat backs. Lol. Watched our gamecocks finally defeat that bowl curse. We thought we heading to the big time, but oh how we would have to wait. Lesson I learned is the cherish the good times and sometimes what you think will work doesn’t while other times what doesn’t look like it will workout does. The memories around Gamecock fun, passion and discussion I made with my Gamecock friends (like this board should-be)Patience and hope. It’s always a great day to be a gamecock!

They called it 95 Carquest bowl because it was Jan 2, 1995

My great football week if you want to watch.
