I couldn't believe it when I saw it, that's gotta be the highest spread I've ever seen over a #1 team by a mile. Time for our Gamecocks to shock the world!

http://www.sportbet.com/lines/basketball_college_women

For reference, #1 Kentucky men's team was favored to beat South Carolina men's team by 11.5 to 12.5 depending on the sportsbook. I know we had that men's game at home, and tonight's game is in Storrs, but I find that crazy.

Hopefully Dawn and the girls can prove the oddsmakers wrong!!

You may be a degenerate gambler if you bet on women's college basketball (though that line is tempting, isn't it?)

Not really surprised. We could get blown out in this game. We have to start better at the beginning of the game than what we've done recently.

Can we win, yes, but it will be a very tough win to get.

Maybe I'm the only one, but I'm shocked. We're undefeated. We have been #1 almost the whole season. Get real!!! I will take that bet all day long.

PS naysayers make me want to puke.

seeing as how UConn is winning by an average of nearly 40 points..... line doesn't surprise me.

We can win there, but, I think Dawn sees this more as a measuring stick of post season than as a "must win" tonight kind of game. I can see the game getting out of hand late if we are down by 8-10 and have to send them to the free throw line and then we miss late 3 pointers trying to get back in it. That could lead to a VERY misleading score.

to me, if we can keep it under 10 tonight, even if we lose, that bodes VERY well for post season and beating them on a neutral floor.

No clue. You see, to avoid Mrs. Dangerfield knowing anything about it, I have a co-worker across the hall. Whenever I wanna bet, I hand him the cash, he bets for me, & I give him 10% of my winnings. Works like a charm. I can claim ignorance at home!!

Hope she ain't on here........

there's a link on the TIF within a similar thread.....don't know if we can actually bet on there, but it appears so...

The line on Sportsbet is vacillating rapidly, I assume because betting action for the women's game is scarce and a few bets can change it drastically.

The line went up to 19.5 about 30 minutes ago and is now down all the way to 11.5.

I saw the line as low as Gamecocks +10 on Sportsbook.

I am not a gambler, but don't bookies adjust the line to balance the action and minimize their risks. If true, the line does not suggest that UCONN is 18.5 points better than USC. Yet, perhaps the news will keep the team humble and hungry.

Go Gamecocks!

They attempt to adjust the line to have an even number of dollars on each team. Their only profit is the 10% "juice" from the losers. Of course, it never works out exactly this way, but in any event, the juice is all the bookie earns or cares about. The line reflects the publics' expectation of the outcome of the game, that's it.

How do you really feel?

They win by an average of 40 points because they do not play anybody in their conferense with a pulse except South Florida and maybe Tulane.

most money lines where the line is about 12-13 is at 6 to 1

Anytime a line is over 13pts there usually is not a money line

imo refs can dictate a game with their calls. The announcers can say it is a good call but not if it isn't called the same on both ends. Kinda like a strike zone. If I give one team/pitcher 2" outside the plate and the other has to be completely over the plate ,,, that is a huge advantage unless Randy Johnson is the pitcher.

I believe it. Well it seems we may have a chance at the biggest upset by an number 1 team ever. That is something pretty awesome to play for.

....."Well it seems we may have a chance at the biggest upset by an number 1 team ever".......

Hey, wait a minute! You're the #1 team in the country! How is beating #2 an upset?
