Why has Braden Davis dropped so far on Rivals?

I've been out of commission bc of a surgery I had, along with the recovery time. I kept hearing about this recruiting spree we were going on and decided to check it out, now that I was feeling better. But notice BD had dropped to a 3* , which usually happens (he'd jumped to a 5, had he gone to Clem). But he's 12 spots under the nearest 4* (when looking at just the QB rankings.) That seems like a very big drop to me. What could've warranted a drop like that? Did I miss something while I was out? I looked back but couldn't seem to find anything. Any help would be much appreciated. Go Roosters

I guess my cynicism about journalism is higher than others. Any media or web site producer do what they can to make money and the truth is just a bystander. Same is true for top 10 lists, rankings, almost anything that is published as news. The only proof in quality for athletics is the number of wins and that is for the team and not individuals. YMMV

EDIT
There are some who generate content related to filling their ego and sometimes ideology.

The conspiracy theory doesn’t really work once you add in facts. The 8th ranked QB is committed to Purdue. There is zero chance rivals makes more money off Purdue fans than Gamecock fans.

Are they making money publishing their contents? I don’t think they care about any team. It’s not a conspiracy comment I made, it’s just that they publish whatever they have. They don’t need to do the hard work to investigate. They make the same money regardless. A journalist with a deadline is going to have their work published regardless of the contents. You do what you can and get paid.

He played two games last year. One he did well on and was a blow out, the other the defense was eating the OL alive and they had like 200 total yards for the game and the third game he got injured.

unless you see him in person it’s hard to gauge

This is really the issue. He was a 4 based on potential and hype and in almost every article you read it was about his flashes in camps. It was also noted that some of his offers were also to change positions. Without any real experience at QB it’s all a crap shoot at this point.

Rivals ONLY promotes the considered blue bloods .See their site today ? Texas , OK , Fl , FSU , Clempson , Alabama .

People said the same thing about Philip Rivers. As long as you can consistently do the wrong thing you can make it work.
Yea I don’t disagree. Many great players have quirks about their form. But conversely, many bad players do as well.

I know to most stars matter. I will just say this about Davis. Look at the schools that were after him.
