To keep it short & sweet, Dawn Staley has the SC wbb program on the rise. She has been building the program like crazy & the results are showing, on the court with all the team achievements & individual awards, & off the court with all the fan support she's getting & bringing popularity to the South Carolina women's basketball team. My thoughts are, if she stays at SC for 15-20 yrs or even longer, I could definitely see her winning a few NCAA championships as well as a handful of SEC championships. She's now attracting top talent & doesn't have to work as hard when it comes to trying to recruit a few of the nation's top players. She's got more gold Olympic medals than she's got fingers & has accomplished everything except a national title. For that reason you know she's gonna go after a title relentlessly until she achieves that & she's getting the players to do so. I'm not saying she'll be the next Pat Summit or win 10 NCAA championships like UConn's coach, but I DO see her cementing herself as one of the best wbb coaches in the land & she's proving that with each passing season.

Thanks for taking the time to read my thoughts on her current streak of success. I'd love to read yours!

black, don't know if i'd say "doesn't have to work as hard when it comes to trying to recruit"? I think she will always work as hard. You never sit on your laurels.

that being said we're just one twisted ankle from having it all go wrong, etc.

I agree with your point on her not sitting on her success, but I do believe SC is very deep & talented at every position. A little further ahead then being one twisted ankle away from things going wrong. Four very good post players & a handful of talented players.. a few who barely saw the court because of the excess of talent. But that'a what you're gonna need if you expect to take a hit & not miss much of a beat. Thanks for your input Earle

To answer your question I think she will be at Carolina for at least another 10-20 years. I don't why she would leave. My brother in law, a UVA grad and very close to the program, said that when UVA turned their back on her when their coaching spot opened a few years ago killed any chance of getting her in the future.

Thank you. I didn't know about that UVA info. Thanks for sharing

I think she wants to make her mark here. She wants to be to Carolina what Pat Summit was to Tennessee. I might be wrong but that's the way I see it.

She'll ride this wave of success out I do believe. She is still young, maybe after about 10 or so years she has a desire to take on new challenge and try to build Virginia into a powerhouse as well. Or maybe if she is happy she just decides to stay.

yeah, but 10 years from now down the road different people will likely be there. We'll see.

Dawn is 44 years old. I definitely could see her finishing her career at USC as long as she continues to have the same kind of support from the administration and fans that she currently has. As fans, if we keep our attendance in the top 3 in the country for the next 20 years, I see no reason she would want to leave.
