• Preseason Coaches poll is out
Arkansas #1 and we are #2. UF is #5
Which means they are clearly no
longer viewed as the perennial top
dog. We have the best record over the
last 5 years 39-6-7. Five of those six
Conference losses came in OT. Our
record by pro league standards would
be 38-1-13 over that period. Gold star if
you can name the team that was able
to defeat us in regulation.

• Schedule, both hard and easy. Have
Arkansas and #4 Vandy away. UF at
home. All in a row. Open with UGA
away(will preview below) followed by
home games against bottom feeders
Mizzou and UK. Close with games
against bottom half teams; UT, Miss St,

• Covid update: UF has postponed their
opener vs Mizzou, 3 positive tests on
Tuesday. Whole team basically in
quarantine

• UGA preview: 1pm start nationally
Televised on SEC Network. Dawgs
Return all 4 backs and GK, backs are
athletic, good not great speed, below
average tactical awareness, and don’t
seem to coordinate their efforts. GK
Wenger is tall and athletic, strong leg,
makes hard saves but then allows easy
goals.
On offense: scored 18 goals in 5 games.
Four were against OOC doormats and
one conference game against last
place Mizzou. In the other 12 games
they scored 8 goals. Lost their best
forward Reagan Glisson to transfer.
Forward Chloe Chapman returns snd
could be an All American BUT she is
scheduled to be the starting PG on
WBB team. No idea where she is
spending the bulk of her practice time

We should win. Three new starters will
determine whether we are SECchamps.
Heather Hinz will be GK. Tall, athletic,
strong leg, makes the impossible saves
Will she be vocal enough to direct the
back line?
Hallie Meadows replaces All Everything
Grace Fisk in central defense. 6’0”
strong and athletic, good speed. Dad
is UGA All American OL Adam
Meadows.
Catherine Berry at center forward.
HUGE, she is listed at 6’1” but when
she stands next to Meadows seems 3-4
inches taller. HS All American and
plays on U20 National Team. A beast
to defend as she uses her body to
claim space and shield defenders. Can
get off strong shot even when doubled.

Almost forgot

Attendance is limited to 675 and only those who purchased season tickets are eligible.

Further note 5 of our 8 matches are televised on SEC Network or ESPNU. My guess is the other three will be on SEC+

Reactions: redrogers
We will run our usual formation 4 defenders 1 holding mid 2 attacking mids and 3 forwards

BUT emphasis will be different.
Last year we were hyper aggressive in pushing our outside backs into the attack. We could do this because Fisk and Patten had the back covered. Fisk also started a lot of the offense by bringing the ball out of the back via the dribble.

This year we will be more conservative with the outside backs because of not being as fast. Conversely we will be much more aggressive on counters. Patten is a better passer than Fisk especially on the long balls. With Gareis and both Zullo’s speed on the wings this could be devastating.
If the wing attack is blunted, the first option will be Cat Berry. She is unlike any forward we have had here in the 20 odd years I have been going to matches. Her style is Abby Wambach, she bigger and stronger than any defender in the league. If you don’t double, her footwork, shielding ability, and size will create open shots. Much like Savannah she can score and create for others.
We have three players on this team that eventually make national teams. Patten has already got England. Berry and Harris for USA.
