Growing tired of trying to make anything and everything else work:
USC=Southern Cal. (Until Something Changes)
Carolina - North Carolina. (And, FWIW, I’d bet you UNC wouldn’t bend over to The University of Northern California)
UofSC - too wordy. Just don’t like it.
The USC - Inferiority complex anyone?
Thee USC - yeah, Somewhat Unique. (But this too is initially confusing to the rest of the world. We’d really have to brand it. And, based on past experience, I have very little faith in The University of South Carolina correctly or effectively branding anything for forever. Or, effectively fighting for anything.)
