I really hadn't paid any attention to the 2 deep on D but I can see now a possible explanation for some of our team's struggles. Most good teams have a core of Seniors, 5, 6 or 7, who have been together for 4 or 5 years. We lack that dynamic in a big way on defense. Leadership has to be a problem here.
I'm going to break down Sr.'s as guys recruited out of HS to USC and transfers. OK, here we go.
Seniors
1) Seniors on the 2 deep recruited out of HS to USC
BAW & Rashad Fenton...........that's it, 2 senior starters that have been together 4 or 5 years. That's it!!! That's amazing. That's from the whole 2 deep, 2! What a rag tag unit this must be. I think Baw and Brunson are the leaders but that's not near enough.
2) Other seniors i.e. transfers, Jucos' etc. to USC
Steven Montac
Nick Harvey
Keisean Nixon
Montac has been solid, Harvey a bust due to injury and Nixon has been benched.
On offense it's a little better.
Seniors recruited out of HS; Scar, Deebo, Crosby, Bailey & Camper.
Jacob August and Denis Daley are transfers.
