Louisville got beat by Houston last week AT HOME yet the line has dropped to 5 1/2 at two big books in Vegas. Why? clemson goes there ranked #9 while Louisville is 0-2 and unranked. The 'cards looked bad against Auburn but I didn't think too much about it until I saw Auburn needed OT to beat JAX STATE at home ... then Louisville losing to Houston ... I don't get it.
This 'ought be a crip-game for clemson. Why the puny spread?

The Q. was does anybody know if anybody's hurt? This line just seems funny-low to me, almost as if the odds of Louisville opening 0-3 are as long as clemson winning 'big'. Louisville's looked like a dog both weeks it played, but clemson hasn't really played anyone so maybe they can't tell yet. Beat 'em by 30 maybe they deserve their current ranking. Beat 'em by the line they ain't any better than Houston - and worse than Auburn, who rightfully took a tumble in the polls this week. Common opponents tell a lot.

It's pretty simple, really. No one outside of Pickens Co has any respect for clempson. Hell, most ppl outside the South think moo u is in Georgia.

Yep, that little "PK" in the 5th line indicates Pick 'em. Thanks.

You can scroll down to Georgia-S.Car and see where UGA opened at -15.5 and now is at -17.5.

Vegas is trying to even the betting line, all of the money is coming on the Clemson side.

Wouldn't Louisville be getting MORE points to attract more money? Why would any regular joe-blow bettor take 0-2 Louisville who lost AT HOME to Houston against a Top-10 rank only getting 5 1/2? That doesn't make sense.

UL is "getting" more points when the move is from even to 5.5. Now Clemson has to win by more than 5.5 whereas before it simply had to win. That would encourage more folks to bet on UL.

I think an 0-2 team at home is dangerous...this is Louisville's last chance you can argue to salvage something positive. Plus while they are 0-2 they are 0-2 against two programs that are more talented than the 2 that Clemson is 2-0 against.

I would suspect Clemson will likely win this one but given all those factors i can see the line being low too

Does that mean the people in Las Vegas think 0-2 Louisville and 2-0 clemson are EVEN (or -3 given the home field) it's just the money being bet that changed anything?
After looking at the Auburn/JaX State stats and the Houston win how could anyone think clem and the 'cards are 'EVEN'? Isn't that INVITING people to rob you?

Typical early season stuff. No one knows how good Clemson may be and many think UL is better than they played last week. Add in Thursday night, revenge factor, injuries and the like and it is what it is.

Have you ever watched a Thursday night game before? Especially with Louisville desperate for a win.

This is a game for tiger fans to bet ... and now ND is 'setting up' for you, too. 1st their QB starter from last year, Golson left, then the guy who beat him out in the Spring broke his ankle and now their 1st string TE (top receiver) is out for the season.
clemson will be playing ND with its 3rd string QB without their top guy to catch it. Those 'apples' make it seem like clemson got the 'divine' intervention.

The answer is "Yes" Mike Williams, Korin Wiggins, DJ Reader, Korie Rogers All Starters all out in the last few weeks. Lot of freshman playing in their place. Good potential but is it too early to tell if they will be okay against stiff competition. A team has to start somewhere in the polls...see USC last year.

I agree with you, but why do you randomly use quotes? Sorry, I'm new and may be missing something...

And yet another Clemson thread. Shocking

Just announced starting center Ryan Norton is out with MCL sprain from yesterdays practice. How do these dudes in Vegas get their info so fast?

Unless it's his other leg Norton got rolled against Wofford to hurt his knee the first time. Guillermo played more than 1/2 the game. When I saw the replay it didn't look good when they took him off, may have brought him back too soon. Guillermo started a couple of games last year, he's no rookie - and he's got 45-pounds on Norton.

to quote Dany Sheridan, "the vegas line is simply the betting public's perception of the outcome of the game". When a line opens at a pick'em like this one did, and you suddenly see the line jump to -6 all it means is most of the money being bet was on Clemson so the casino moves the line out to try and even it up. As long as more money continues to come in for Clemson the line will get larger. They want as close to an equal amount bet on both sides as they can get. That way they can't lose when you figure in the juice/vig.

Congrats on not knowing how to read Vegas lines...

Most lines started out at -3.5 and have moved in Clemson's favor. I am sorry you are wrong.

Your hatred clouds your judgement and ability to perceive reality.

If Watson goes down for any reason then the Taters are done! No offense. Second string QB is awful. Would take Louisville and 10 points. It won't be the blowout that Clemson is hoping for.

If the line were at 10 points I would take UL as well. Problem is the line has never been at 10 points and the OP is full of it.

"Heartache Tonight"

Somebody's gonna hurt someone
before the night is through
Somebody's gonna come undone.
There's nothin' we can do.
Everybody wants to touch somebody
if it takes all night.
Everybody wants to take a little chance,
Make it come out right.

There's gonna be a heartache tonight,
a heartache tonight, I know.
There's gonna be a heartache tonight, I know.
Lord, I know.

Some people like to stay out late
Some folks can't hold out that long
But nobody wants to go home now.
there's too much goin' on.

This night is gonna last forever.
Last all, last all summer long.
Some time before the sun comes up
The radio is gonna play that song.
There's gonna be a heartache tonight,
A heartache tonight, I know.
There's gonna be a heartache tonight,
A heartache tonight, I know.
Lord I know.

There's gonna be a heartache tonight,
the moon's shinin' bright
so turn out the light, and we'll get it right.
There's gonna be a heartache tonight, a
heartache tonight I know.
Heartache baby,

Somebody's gonna hurt someone, (somebody)
Before the night is through
Somebody's gonna come undone,
There's nothin' we can do
(Everybody) Everybody wants to touch somebody
if it takes all night
Everybody wants to take a little chance
To make it come out right

There's gonna be a heartache tonight
A heartache tonight, I know
There's gonna be a heartache tonight,
A heartache tonight ,I know
Let's go.
We can beat around the bushes;
we can get down to the bone
We can leave it in the parkin' lot,
but either way, there's gonna be a
heartache tonight, a heartache tonight I know.
There'll be a heartache tonight
a heartache tonight I know.

The reason for the puny spread is L'Ville is better than you give them credit for. Thankfully on a very, very small sampling of people agree with you.

Based on?
Not understanding the Q? The link shows the Open as a PK. My expectation re: the game is because I am in the camp that UL is better than they looked on Saturday, Thursday night road games can be tough, and I think Clemson has unanswered questions after the first two weeks.

I'll accept legal's admonishment but yours is BS ... MOST lines didn't open at -3.5 (or pick) pick was the FIRST line offered with a 'consensus' open of -3 published at 3:05 Sunday.
The line I read was straight across 'clemson' at 54u -10 under the 'Open' column w/o looking at the Louisville line, which was PK -10 (as legal stated) however, that 'open' was only one book and ''consensus' wasn't published until five lines had been released.
Yes, I read it wrong.
And so did you. Only Wynn 'opened' at -3.5.
I've told you before, I don't 'hate' clemson - I hate clemson trolls.
I STILL don't 'get it' WHY supposedly #9 in the country is less than a TD pick over 0-2 unranked with two ugly losses including one at home.
Help with this one ... what's the line on App State/Old Dominion or against Wyoming next week ... or Wofford/Idaho or Gardner-Webb the following week?
Heck, the line's LOW because 0-2 Louisville MIGHT beat you straight-up. If so, do you switch places with Houston in the rankings? If we beat Georgia do we?
