Just several quick-hitters for you today...

Another name to watch on the transfer wire: Goose Creek native Caleb Kinlaw. After redshirting in 2014 and playing in 2015, Kinlaw made the decision to transfer from Wisconsin and has a full release. He has a long list of programs he’s interested in including USC, and plans on speaking to many of them after the dead period ends. I wouldn’t be surprised if there ends up being some conversations with USC but there cannot be any movement on that front right now because of the dead period. One angle to watch is that Kinlaw would prefer to play running back (he was moved to corner at Wisconsin at one point).

Of course, USC is in strong position with North Carolina's Rico Dowdle as Wes Mitchell reiterated last night, and will host JUCO RB Tyren Jones for an official visit the weekend of January 22.

Will Muschamp recently touched base to ensure that 2018 in-state prospect Josh Belk still had his Gamecock offer on the table. USC’s previous staff offered Belk first following a one-day summer camp trip.

Three-star cornerback Malek Young out of Florida has USC on his list of schools to officially visit. He’s already been to Ohio State, and Clemson, Miami, and South Carolina round out his top four. He’ll see Clemson January 15, followed by Miami and USC on the consecutive weekends leading into signing day.

As of now, we’re hearing that it looks like in-state athlete Stephen Davis Jr. will be making an official visit to Auburn on January 15 and South Carolina on January 22.

Another athlete from Florida, 6-foot-5 athlete Evan Hinson, recently told the Rivals.com network that he plans on making an official visit to Columbia the weekend of January 15, with Southern Cal slotted for a trip the following week. The former Miami commitment is also a strong hoops player.

I got some clarification and JUCO five-star DE Jonathan Kongbo, who decommitted from Tennessee last night, has used three official visits; he has two remaining. Alabama is currently slotted for one on January 15 and FSU, Oregon, South Carolina, Washington and others are fighting to try to get the last trip.

Recently, we brought you the news that 2017 five-star DB Lamont Wade had a family connection to South Carolina and that a visit in the future was possible. Wade himself confirmed that to us, saying that he would “for sure” look into a trip to USC.

Another underclassman to keep an eye on with renewed interest in USC is 2018 standout Christian Tutt out of Georgia. He told me that he had a good relationship with four of USC’s new coaches: Muschamp, McClendon, Thompson, and Robinson.
