Not sure why any football team would run a play action pass if the run game isn’t working

By the time any QB makes the fake or turns around after the fake to look downfield the defense is in the backfield.

The QB needs to have his eyes downfield longer to see the defense instead of worrying about the fake. Also with a fake run you can’t throw quick passes which we needed tonight.

If you still want to run the ball and it’s not working in an RPO then you should just lineup in a run heavy formation to have more blockers. Then use a play action off of that. If there is no threat or success the play action will not work.

At some point you can’t just stick with what you practiced during the week for the game plan. It wasn’t working. They know the whole play book by now. Only time we did good running was when they were playing prevent defense and playing the pass.

Every play should be available to run in the game in case what you practiced isn’t working. That’s called making adjustments.
