I wasn't 100-percent sure last night when I posted Weekly Thoughts but I have now been told that Houston head coach Tom Herman is interested in the South Carolina job. I don't want people to take this wrong way because I'm not saying he would take the job if offered. I'm saying that he is interested and would like to talk with South Carolina. Obviously South Carolina has interest as well so I would expect there to be conversations between the two and go from there.
I mentioned last night that I thought Memphis head coach Justin Fuente would have interest in the South Carolina job. I was also told today again that Fuente is interested as well. I would expect there to be conversations there as well and things go from there.
I said last night that it is way too early to name a front runner. I still stand by that. If you made me put money on who the next coach will be, I would still say it is Kirby Smart. Things could easily change quickly.
