Texas A&M trip

Since you've allotted 3 Days in College Station, there are some nice little towns within ~45-60 mins that might be fun to visit.

For example, right down TX6 is Brenham. There is a very nice little downtown with shop and cafes. But, the big attraction is the Blue Bell ice cream factory. They produce the best ice cream! Try the banana pudding flavor. https://www.bluebell.com

A little further away is the town of Bellville. We have a farm/ranch there. The Bellville Meatmarket has the best BBQ and Newmans has the best breakfast. The owner of Newmans built a castle and he offers tours. If you have breakfast there, you can sign up for a tour. http://newmanscastle.com/bakery/ Depending on your political persuasion, there is a burger joint that you either love or hate about 1/4 mile from the BBQ joint. If you go to Bellville, I'll let you find if on your own :)

You mentioned hiking. The Cat Spring area has a horse riding 'dude ranch' experience. I've never done it, but it has good reviews from people who have. https://www.blisswood.net/specials-packages#outdoor

Lastly, there are a couple of other little towns around like Industry and New Ulm that offer town squares with little shops and cafes. These little places get the closest to reminding me of home like where my grandparents grew up - Abbeville.

Hope this helps. Man, now I miss home.

Go Cocks!

A few ideas for anyone making the trip…

In Bryan, just a few minutes from CS, this is a very good restaurant we enjoyed… https://ronintx.com/restaurant

A block’s walk away is this brewery that my wife enjoyed… https://www.blackwaterbrew.com/

Aggieland Safari is an interesting place if you’re interested in seeing some animals. You can feed a large number of them from your car, and there are others you can observe including giraffes and a hippo.

Recommend breakfast tacos at Fuego Tortilla Grill while you’re in College Station. Bush museum was not open due to COVID when we were there (it is now) but even the outside scenery is worth a visit. If you’re interested in Aggie history at all, the memorial for the students killed during the Bonfire build a couple of decades back is impressive.

Thank you Heath! Appreciate your input very much!

To see a new stadium? See a new city and campus? Support their alma mater?
I’m in college station right now, Even though I not to confident about us winning this game, I wanted to check out there stadium and my first time in Texas other than flybys through airports. Even brought the flags for the rental car for the trip from Houston to College Station. Any recommendations for Tex-Mex food or steakhouses near University BLVD?

Heath Cline posted some good suggestions earlier this week.
