Several Gamecock players are slated to speak to the media today after practice.

GamecockCentral.com will have updates with relevant notes and information right here.

LUKE DOTY

Said there was a “slight chance” he could have played but that it was best to not and to prepare for this week.

He is doing a lot of rehab and running on the foot and feels good. He said he did a lot in practice today and that he feels like he’s pretty close. He’s getting there, Doty said.

The competition among QBs has been fun, according to Doty.

To play on Saturday, Doty says he needs to feel confident in running again and that he does. Running at 100 percent is something he wants to feel confident in and that it’s getting better every day.

Doty touts the DL as amazing and that the group helps them prepare for the heart of their schedule.

Zeb Noland did “awesome” on Saturday according to Doty. Said he looks up to Zeb, has been around a while and that he’s played a lot of football.

Doty’s still been throwing around even when he was on the scooter. Now, it’s more about improving on drop speed and moving around in the pocket. He didn’t do as much last week in practice as he did today.

Satterfield’s offense: being able to get all the athletes involved was awesome to see. The way he communicates and gets everyone going is really cool, Doty says.

Rehab process started with a lot of walking. Coming out of the boot, it was stiff. Then he needed to strengthen the muscles and get the balance and coordination back. He felt great running around today. He’s expecting to be 100 percent on Saturday.

DYLAN WONNUM

After a mic check by Dylan, he addresses a question about the rushing attack in the first half. He said it was more about getting a head on a head.

The players, meeting with Satterfield as an offense, called out what they did wrong on film after watching the game back.

Wonnum said he needs to have better footwork. He gets his job done, and most of the OL does, but the footwork can be better.

Penalties were discussed; Wonnum said the team needs to fix the minor things that are major things.

Tyshawn Wannamaker, behind Wonnum at RT, is a powerful guy and they’re working on technique with him.

Asked how tough it is to block Burch, Wonnum laughs. Then he says: “me personally, not as much.” Mentions that Burch is getting better and not a young player anymore.

With some of the movements that ECU does up front, it will be key to hold the horses and not jump early up front.

MARSHAWN LLOYD

He felt like the backs needed to do a better job of hitting the hole. He took a little while to get into it but then felt normal. He felt like “the old MarShawn” as far as being able to make cuts and get extra yards and stopping on a dime .

He wants to do better with ball security, he didn’t fumble but needs to hold it more high and tight and to “be the abuser” close to the sideline instead of getting forced out.

Kevin Harris was back full go at practice according to Lloyd.

Z. White: “He can do everything.” Lloyd lauds him as a versatile player and great teammate.

There was nothing surprising to Lloyd about what White and McDowell did on Saturday. He’s seen it every day in practice.

BRAD JOHNSON

“Every week is a Super Bowl” has been the message from Clayton White.

ECU is more talented and more disciplined than what the Gamecocks saw last week, but they’re looking to prepare the same way.

Brad did know that Burch could run that fast based on his testing numbers and working with him in the past.

Performing like the defense did gave the team confidence in the right ways - knowing what they can do and what guys are good at.

This Saturday compared to in the last as far as atmosphere and team mindset: He thought it was a lot different since it was a new staff, but smooth. The Gamecocks Walk took everyone’s breath away, as did 2001.

It was a smooth transition moving from what Brad has played in the past to a true linebacker slot. Communicating was a big emphasis, since you have to talk at LB. It was a good first step and he’s ready to grow from it.

The special teams have made a big impact, and the young guys are looking at it the right way. They’re used to being the guy in High school at a position, so special teams is an emphasis at this level as far as playing early and preparing for the pros.

Johnson’s last sack was in 2018, so the one on Saturday night was a moment he won’t forget. “Don’t miss” is what he was thinking when he saw things open up.

Clayton White: it’s hard to dissect everything he brings to the program. He’s been the leader and coordinator that they needed. He is just as excited about the plays as the players are.

NOTE - Kevin Harris was slated to talk but won’t today, because he’s in the training room.
