Beamer meeting with the media about 7:15 p.m. tonight to recap and put Saturday to bed. Updates will be in this post.

--Guys are "hurting today in this facility." Said it was a tough night and a SEC battle, like they knew it'd be. Pleased with effort and physicality for the most part. Kentucky is a good team, undefeated and 2-0 in the SEC. They "did things they were supposed to do to win the football game." Said it was frustrating because they feel really close in a bunch of areas. Said if a few plays go their way they're feeling different today. Margin of error is very small and they have to get better. They have to start games faster. Said a lot of teams are 2-2 right and thinks they have a chance to be a good football team "if we get better."

--Said it's frustrating getting three turnovers and having three drives start in Kentucky territory and not getting any points out of it. Said they did well keeping UK's pass game in check but need to be better in the run game, particularly in run fits and "knocking people back."

--Offensively they need to be better. Said it's not a recipe for success when 15 plays of 51 were third or fourth downs.

--Excited for Parker White's kick and has a lot of respect for Parker White.

--Looking back at the decision-making, said he would "do the exact same thing again." Pleased with the call on both and they didn't execute. Brooks dropped a ball and then Doty missed a wide open receiver on the second and went to Joyner first.

--On the onside kick, said with 2:31 and two timeouts, was hoping to get a stop and get the ball back around midfield with just under two minutes left. Said that's part of being a football coach getting scrutinized. Said those choices weren't made in haste and they planned for it.

--"We have good coaches, have good players. We just have to execute." Said it might not be what people want to hear but of the 51 plays most were good calls. Said they have to continue to put guys in position to succeed and teach things better. They look at each week and think of the things they need to do to be better. Said things aren't as bad or as good as they seem. Right now they're not playing well but "we're four games into it now so we have a pretty good idea of where we are offensively. We have to emphasize what we do well."

--On the run game, said it's a "multitude of things." It's not just one person. Said a few plays last night they had a few missed assignments from the line, receivers on the perimeter, the tight ends are on the right person and need to finish the block and finish plays. Said there are plays where the footwork from Doty needs to be better to maintain timing. On one of the fourth down call, the tempo was a little too quick. They pulled a guard and the guard got bumped off by the center, Harris was too quick to the line before the guard could get there. Starts with coaching. Said it's not scheme—some of the plays were run at South Carolina last year—and comes down to execution.

--Said the offense is a "work in progress" in a lot of ways with Kevin Harris coming off of a surgery, Doty young into his career and MarShawn coming off injury. Sees playmakers offensively and they have a lot of guys offensively with talent. Good to see receivers step up, Muse get an explosive, they targeted Jaheim Bell twice. Have a veteran offensive line that will continue to lead. They see weapons and now have to figure out ways to get the ball to those guys."

--Came out of the game "pretty good" from an injury standpoint. Jaylen Nichols and Carlins Platel are sore and they'll monitor their progressions. Doesn't think anything that will keep guys from playing.

--Asked about pass protection, said it was OK. Kentucky had a few players who are tough to handle and "got some good push." Mentally they had to be better across the board. They had some pass pro breakdowns from the running back perspective. Juju McDowell got beat on poor technique and then they had a miscommunication up front.

--Have to look at the running back spot and see "who gives us the chance to be successful." MarShawn's practiced well, he said. Mentions running 51 plays is really hard to get a lot of guys consistent reps.

That's a wrap.
