WBB: Five Things to Watch - Missouri

Hope everyone is enjoying a nice Mayo-inclusive dinner. Tip is at 7 on the SEC Network. Missouri is reportedly down to 8 scholarship players due to COVID. The full list of players who are out isn't available yet, but Aijha Blackwell, Mizzou's leading scorer and rebounder tweeted that she will be watching the game, so it sounds like she's out. USC is without LeLe Grissett and Saniya Rivers.

We have a dress roster for Mizzou: Skylah Travis, Izzy Higginbottom (great name), Jayla Kelly, Aijha Blackwell, and Micah Linthacum are not on the list. Travis, Kelly, and Linthacum are reserves who don't play a ton. Higginbottom has played every game and is averaging 7.0 points.

Gamecock starters: Henny, Cooke, Beal, Saxton, and Boston. Former Gamecock LaDazhia WIlliams gets her first start of the season for Mizzou, along with Troup, Dembele, Hansen, and Frank.

There's an app to order liquor delivered to my door?

Saxton wins the tip and we are underway. Boston gets the ball inside but can't score.

Frank draws a pair of charges, and the officials are annoying both teams early. Gamecocks are up 5-2.

LA checks in for Boston. Saxton gets a couple of offensive boards and Henny hits a jumper to make it 9-4.

Gamecocks lead 9-6 at the media timeout.

South Carolina leads 12-11 after 1Q. Both teams are shooting under 36%, the Gamecocks have a 13-7 rebounding edge.

I looked up Dawn Staley's sweater. It retails for $1,290. #Itsgoodtobethequeen

Hansen hits a three from the corner and Missouri leads 14-12.

Mizzou leads 22-18 at the media timeout. Boston has two FTs after the break.

Two fouls each on Boston and Saxton, Both fouls on Boston were very questionable. It's nice having to turn to LA and Cardoso.

Frank hits a 25 foot three. Cardoso follows a Henny miss to end the half, but Mizzou leads 32-26 at halftime.

Mizzou hit some really tough shots, but South Carolina played with a lack of intensity and precision on offense. Cardoso has 8 and 6. Boston 1 and 3. Henny just 2 points and 2 assists.

The third quarter begins with a basket by Boston. She drives and pops. You think that was the message at halftime?

Boston gets the defensive rebounds, and then is fouled on a putback. She misses the FT but gets the rebound. Cooke misses the elbow jumper. Mizzou leads 32-30.

Steal by Boston leads to a foul against Henny. Timeout Mizzou. Henny will have teo FTs to tie after the timeout.

Boston has 4 points, 4 rebounds, and a steal, plus a couple of defensive stops, in the first 2:22 of the 3Q.

Boston adds a jumper and assist to Cardoso. Then Cooke finally gets a jumper to fall. She hits a three to put USC up 38-37.

Mizzou leads 39-38 at the media timeout.

Boston picks up her third on a bad reach in. There was one second left on the shot clock. She'll sit, probably for the rest of the third to get some rest. Henny misses a wide-open three and Mizzou leads by 1.

Beal fouls Hansen on a 3. She makes all 3. Cooke misses a three. LA gets the rebound and Henny is fouled on a drive. She makes both and we are tied at 45 after 3Q.

The Gamecocks held Mizzou without a FG for the final 5:05 of the third, but the Tigers got to the foul line. Mizzou is 11-12 from the line, South Carolina is only 4-7. Cardoso has 12 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 blocks. Boston has 7 points, 7 rebounds.

Cooke and Henny are a combined 4-23. They are getting open looks.

Mizzou goes up 50-45. Boston comes back with a three-point play.

Troup drives and kicks to Hansen for three. Then Henny hits Saxton in the post for a layup. Dembele gets open for another three. That hurts. 56-50 Mizzou.

The teams trade baskets. Timeout USC, down 62-58 with 2:35 left. USC's defense has faded at the wrong time. Mizzou is 7-11 in the 4Q. Williams has her first career double-double against her former team.

Beal forces a turnover, ahead to Cooke for the layup and foul She misses the FT. But Troup misses. Henny ushes and feeds LA for the tying layup. 90 seconds left.

Gamecocks get a stop, but then LA is stripped by Troup. Troup is fouled by Beal and falls hard. She makes 1-2.

Henny misses a rushed shot. I would have rather had Boston take the shot there. Henny almost gets a steal but a foul is called.

Dembele makes 1-2. Mizzou leads 64-62 with 29.4 left. Timeout Gamecocks.

Boston drives, misses, gets the ball back, and scores to tie the game. Timeout Mizzou. 64-64 with 21.2 left.

Mizzou mishandles the inbounds. Gamecock ball, pending review.

They are taking a really long look at what seems like an obvious play...

Gamecocks have two timeouts. They can hold for the last shot.

Overtime. Henny gets caught up inside, kicks to Cooke who misses an off-balance shot. I don't think Henny and Boston were on the same page. Henny also had Beal wide open but chose to go to Cooke on the other side.

The teams trade misses and then Boston hits a three. Williams can't score around Beal and Saxton scores in transition. Gamecocks lead 69-64.

The ghost of Aliyah Boston blocks a breakaway layup, and then Boston blocks a shot. Cooke misses a three but USC gets the rebound and calls timeout, up 69-66 with 1:27 left. Both teams are tired.

Henny posts and kicks to Boston for three, no good. Frank gets inside for a layup. Boston had to let her go with 4 fouls.

Henny drives and misses. Troup is down with a leg injury, perhaps a cramp. Timeout Mizzou, 14.1 left.

Hansen gets areound Saxton and makes the layup over Boston. 0.1 seconds left. Mizzou up 70-69.

A pick by Frank gets Hansen free from Beal, and then Saxton and Boston couldn't catch up.

We have dueling timeouts.

Boston tips in the pass, but it came after the buzzer. Missouri upsets #1 South Carolina 70-69.
