Let's condense it. As of now, we are nowhere near SEC caliber at DE or running back and the kind of help we are likely to get from the late portal window isn't likely to raise our standard much. Hope I'm incorrect. The DE thing could wind up being our Achilles Heel. It's critical.

The past two years the defense has helped out the offense immensely. The key this year will be the the offense helping out the defense.

I think we'll be miles ahead of last year there. But we had more people leave through the portal than I expected and we've got some experience deficiencies we didn't have going into last year. We're going to have to figure something out or conjure something up on the defensive front. Now to be fair, we have some good bodies coming in - a few - but I'm afraid we'll have to put more on their shoulders than they will be ready to bear.
