I found him it’s a preferred walk on. I don’t know about a star ranking but usually not that high for a kicker. Glad to get him has great size.

SIAP where kickers aren't rated by Rivals or 247. They have their own ratings for kickers, and that he was a 5* #6.

If Beamer has any strong experience at the collegiate coaching level (people have crapped on him for not even having coordinator experience when he was hired as our head coach), it's experience as recruiting coordinator, and as special team's coordinator. Coach Beamer definitely has a long-term plan at kicker for us......

Just happy we got a kicker that was ranked so high. Pretty crazy to be ranked #6 in the country and have to walk-on. I’m sure he’ll be on scholarship soon if he contributes.

At most positions the #6 ranked recruit is either a high 4-star or low 5-star recruit. It seems legit to call him a 5-star kicker if thinking in those terms. But, I agree that 12 5-stars is a little excessive.
I have no idea how the rankings work, but if this kid is one of the best kickers in the country, I'm happy to have him. Seems like a kicker will either win you a game or lose you a game at least once per season, on average.
