I began following South Carolina football in 1966. Counting the ‘66 season that’s been 56 years. In all these years we have had 13 seasons of 8 or more wins. There have been some 7 win seasons , there have been some 6 win seasons.

1966 Paul Dietzel’s first year (1-9). There was talk of ‘things” to come. In 1969, SC went 7-4 (6-0,ACC) & Peach bowl. Good times. 1973 SC went 7-4 again. Good times—didn’t last , Dietzel resigns in during 1974 season.

Next coach Jim Carlen ‘75 ,7-5, ‘76, 6-5, ‘79, 8-4, ‘80, 8-4. The first 8-4 seasons in Carolina football.

Joe Morrison ‘84, 10-2, ‘87, 8-4, ‘88, 8-4

Next 8-4 season wasn’t until 2000 Lou Holtz, 2001, 9-3.

Then came the Spurrier years that we like to remember.

Then the Muschamp years we would love to erase.

I’m 69. I know many Loyal Gamecock fans from 64 - 80 years of age, and several that have passed on. We haven’t had much to root for much of the time and we may not have much time left. But we still are Gamecock fans —so forgive us if our patience’s sometimes runs raw. We’ve seen 0-11 to 11-2.

56 years a fan———what are your years a fan ?? 5-10, 10-20, 20-30, 30+

May the 11-2 years and even better return to Carolina and stay forever. Go Cocks.!!!!
