One thing is certain: we definitely did not belong among the 12 playoff teams.
Should’ve turned the bowl game down after the team and OC jumped ship. Total waste of time. Should’ve spent that time recruiting and shopping for the best OC we could find. Season was over at that point. Time to rebuild for next year, not produce a clown show.
Possibly. Maybe we would have been more motivated than playing a game that proves nothing against #20. Doesn't excuse today's effort/loss though.
Neither did Clemson, Indiana, Boise State, Tennessee, or SMU, yet there they were.
All lost by more than we did, and they didn't have several of their top players sitting out and their OC gone.
I was disappointed in Shula's play calling
It was horrible. Putting in 3 tight ends and running Sellers in the WILDCOCK formation every play would’ve been a upgrade.
I went to bed p!$$ed, woke up p!$$ed, and am spending the day p!$$ed. Happy New Year has been put on hold. It'll be on hold for awhile. This was an unaccountably terrible performance that bespoke questionable and clearly inadequate preparation.
Yea next year if they manage to win 6 games, just decline the bowl bid, it was obvious they didn’t want to be there and didn’t prepare for the game.
Rewatch the Clemson game. We were very fortunate to win that game. If he hadn’t been forced to kick the fg in that game to bring us within 4 he wouldn’t have. That cost us the game yesterday. If we kick the fg on the razz ma taz bs and probably another time we win. Knowing we couldn’t stop the running game at anytime yesterday and leaving points on the field at anytime is the perfect recipe for a loss. I take the clemson win as a gift and will rewatch it until that’s the last game I remember from 24. Im getting old so that shouldn’t be a problem.

This is true, but wouldn't really benefit sellers for next year.
We need him to be a complete qb, and running him a lot will get hum injured.
I am clinging to the hope that the bowl game was just practice for sellers for next year.
Otherwise, yes, the OC left a lot to be desired. But we're used to that around here.

They also were not playing Illinois. I don't think a few of those belonged. I think 12 is too many teams, and if you are arguing for that 11th-12th spot you were not going to make any noise in the playoffs anyways.
That game benefited no one except snack boy honing his mind games against Beamer.
Well, just look at the points. We scored three in the first half and trailed by four at halftime. Four was the eventual margin of defeat. Ergo, the first half basically cost us the game. That missed 30-yard field goal before the break and one more would have won it for us, everything else being equal.
Incidentally, look at what field goal kicking might wind up costing Texas this afternoon.
That and the refs. They hosed Texas hard in the 4th quarter. Game should be over now.
One of the few times you will ever see taking what otherwise would have been an untimely penalty actually wind up winning the game for the team that took it.
The happiest person on the Texas team today is that field goal kicker.
