This was easily my favorite story I've worked on for Gamecock Scoop during my three months here. I had kept writing about how South Carolina wanted to target the DMV area (Washington D.C., Maryland, Virginia) in recruiting under this Shane Beamer-led staff.
But I hadn't done a ton of research into why. So I did a ton of digging and I got some boots on the ground in the area a couple weeks ago to get a grander sense of how and why this specific staff has made the DMV area one of its heaviest targets. It's a perfect place to try and extend the Gamecocks' geographical recruiting footprint and an area ripe for the picking to create a real battleground for years to come.
