We generally try not to bother recruits while they are on their trip, so expect to hear a lot more on their returns over the next few days. I know we have conversations already set up with Tosin Babalade, Jalon Kilgore, Cam Upshaw Jr., Dylan Lonergan, and others, so we will get that to you ASAP.
What I do know from the weekend already is that the recruits and their families were all hosted at Coach Beamer's house on Friday evening, before the recruits split off to be with their host for the weekend. Usually, the hosts are connected to the recruit in some way, even if it's just superficially. For example, Austin, Texas WR Jaden Greathouse was hosted by Freshman WR Landon Samson, who is also from Southlake, Texas outside of Dallas. Or sometimes it just makes sense from a position-group or personality standpoint, like QB Dylan Lonergan was hosted by QB Braden Davis. Edit: I originally put Doty, because I had confirmation they were together last night, but I guess all 3 were hanging out together instead. Anyway, the point about position groupings stands.
The Cotton Gin has done a nice job of switching out its marquee several times this weekend and has already included shoutouts to Lonergan, Greathouse, Desmond Umeozulu, Jalon Kilgore, Tosin Babalade, and Kelby Collins. It's certainly become a part of these trips that recruits look for.
Yesterday was spent giving the college tour of all the facilities and resources, including the Dodie Academic Resource Center and the nutrition and conditioning programs and facilities. Today you'll probably start to see recruits tweet out photos from this morning's photoshoot, and perhaps we will start to hear if there were any commitments (or silent welcome homes), though I can't be sure how they are going to play that. At least one of the recruits I anticipated has let the staff know his intentions (probably more, but I've only confirmed the one right now), but we've seen that Beamer and company like to build a little buzz on social media, so we will see how they choose to roll that out.
