I sent in a request to the Big East office today to see if I could find out anything further on yesterday's botched call in which Michigan was granted a first down on the fake punt despite the ball being short of the marker.
I was sent a message back by Associate Commissioner (for Communications) John Paquette.
I was told that the league understands why the question is being asked, but "we are declining comment on the call. All tapes of all games are reviewed by Terry McAulay, our supervisor of officials."
I sent another email back inquiring as to whether or not there would be anything further from McAulay and was told there would not be. So, no comment is the company line on this one.
Obviously, I know that's not satisfactory to you guys and answers nothing, but wanted to let you all know that we tried.
