Breaking now. A&M fired Jimbo. They are paying him $75,000,000 for his buyout. Just a reminder how moronic it is for ADs to make these insane buyout clauses. And Jimbo was a national championship winning HC when he showed up there.

A question of motivation.

Fisher never needed to work a day again before he arrived at A&M.

His contract terms were actually a disincentive to succeed.

It's ridiculous what coaches are paid. The catalyst (blame) lies on the TV networks who pay the conferences an insane amount of money.

Don't blame tv, blame the schools, they can easily not pay insane salaries and put tv revenue to better use. But just like the government, it's not their personal checkbook so they just throw money around like nothing. Personally, I think all coaching salaries should be performance based......jmo

But the schools would not spend what's not available. If a parent gives his teenager $1, 2, 3000 a year to do as he pleases, the parent is asking for trouble.....drugs, alcohol, getting a girl pregnant, etc.

I agree that the schools are responsible. But, I always look at the source.

The chatter has TAM going after Kiffin or Elko.

Arky fans want to replace Pittman with Malzhan.

It's only moronic if you can't afford it. You can afford it as long as spending it doesn't keep you from pursuing your agenda. Moronic is beating a dead horse when you can afford to write him off and buy yourself a live one. Money ain't no impediment at A&M. They could have paid more than this off in a lump sum had such been required.

He never has to work another day in his life, and will probably never want for anything. Nice gig.

Most USC(East) fans seem consider being 4L-6Ws halfway through the season a victory…

Yet, we are 6-4 and being lectured by the Coach for not being joyful enough.

aTm’s expectation is a national title. Our (Carolina’s) expectation of a head coach is to be bowl eligibility every now and then.

You got that right about a disincentive. Texas A&M knows how to throw tons of money at Coaches. Some schools feel like money can buy dynasties in college sports. It don't work like that. Southern Cal, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, and Texas A&M seem to feel like they should be dynasty teams, forever, based on past successes or current cash resources. Riley, the coach at Southern Cal, is a coaching money climber; with no loyalty to the big schools that have hired him. Jimbo is too. Kirby Smart is a former UGA player and his heart is where he is coaching. Saban is just, plain and simple, a great coach of college football; regardless of the school. Steve Spurrier was, also, like Saban (of a slightly lessor degree). If Sweeney ever ends up at Alabama, it could be like Kirby Smart. Clemson is on a down cycle, right now; but Dabo probably will be back in the future. As a Gamecock fan, I hope not.

Yeah, the difference is A&M backs their national title "expectations" up with truckloads of NIL cash, while we back ours up with crybaby, whining internet posts about how we should be able to find some mythical coach that is just better than all the other coaches and can win national titles despite huge talent deficits and fewer NIL resources. Oh, and he also needs to turn things around immediately and should be willing to work without any kind of contract and accept being fired at any time, but also feel obligated to stay here if he is successful.

You think Beamer is a better coach than Fisher?

Don't suppose it's worth asking you to back up any of those claims with links?

He won a national title as an offensive coordinator, and then again as a head coach.

"Priceless" is the notion that Beamer is better right now.

His moronic contract doesn't change his past accomplishments.

Wow. There really is no recovery from this one. No one can ever take your opinions seriously again.

So you want the guy that had 10 five stars, 46 four stars and loses to App St and doesn't make a bowl. LOL

And lost to Beamer who had a third the talent. LOL

I honestly hope after we lose to Clemson again some of these folks start being a little more honest with themselves.

Yeah, namely you.

Clemson is LOADED with talent. Same as last year. Maybe you should find some of that "honesty" and realize that they SHOULD beat us, and that Beamer and crew did a phenomenal job last year beating them in an epic rivalry win.

Jimbo. Got. Exposed. Hiring him would be worse than the Muschump hire.

Jimbo wouldn't have a title if he were coaching here either. Probably wouldn't have even taken us to a bowl in recent years.

Jimbo had a lot of success earlier than his stint st A&M, even if that's what he'll be remembered for.

And you and I can propose all the hypotheticals we want, they don't really compare to the reality that he is a National title winning coach, and won another as an OC.
