although never cared 4 brent as a sportscaster, i'll defend him here: ...

Why do they think they showed her in the first place because she was ugly? Where was the insult in his statement? I swear this PC thing is like a religion to some people on social media. Saying someone is pretty ain't even a PC statement it's a compliment. These people aren't really offended it's just part of what their club wants you to say. This beautiful lady didn't need their defense if she did she wouldn't be in beauty competitions for goodness sake. Everybody should Google what George Carlin had to say about the PC crowd he was spot on.

When are we going to put a stop to this PC garbage?

I don't think what he said was wrong per se, it just came across as creepy. I don't think announcers should be commenting on the physical appearance of anyone. That's not what they are there for. I also think they spend too much time at the CWS putting the camera on girls in the stands. They don't put the camera on guys in the stands. I know that most of you are males, and it's hard for you to understand this.

What? That was over my head.
Individuals who are offended by something and condemn such "offensive" behavior, such as the Charleston Riverdogs treatment of Tebow, often don't see themselves as being "PC." Interestingly, when someone is criticized or disciplined for saying something that others may find offensive, they don't hesitate to pull out the "PC" card. So, when something is "PC" or isn't seems to be a conundrum wrapped in an enigma....impossible to determine.

They show guys all the time...coaches...players...cheering male fans etc....lol. They comment of the physiques of players all the time it's just the ladies are better to look at and millions of men are watching that's why they flash them. Heck, I think they should hold up score cards. :D

I don't know what games you watch, but I have never seen them single out men in attendance and comment on how good looking they are.

We are a nation of the offended. When I don't like something or someone I usually avoid it or them. Kinda reminds me of how society is always trying to idiot proof everything to keep people from hurting themselves for fear of being sued. In a sense society is trying to offend proof everything. Not possible

Yes, he was soooo offensive. Hey could you pan the camera over to the half naked cheerleaders please?

Simply a pretext to hopefully get rid of an old man.
Exactly. Hey but hes doing good. Hes got a spot at the South Point Casino in Vegas hanging out with Brendan Ghaughan and his dad making bank.

I can understand how women could get irritated at the way some men look them over. If a man uses discretion, that is different Right?. The way some women dress in public, they have no reason to act offended.

I agree; it sounded creepy when a 70-something year old broadcaster said it about a 20-something year old model. It wasn't what he said, but how it sounded when he said it.

Exactly. It's not political correctness. It was just that a large group of viewers cringed because it was a creepy "dirty old man moment." It's ok conversation if you are in a group of other dirty old men, but not for national TV.

Just look at all the people on this board who were hyperventilating because the Riverdogs poked fun at St. Tebow.

This and it shouldn't be hard for us males to grasp at all. His comment about QBs getting all the pretty girls, while expected in a private jokingly conversation between guys like that, is not appropriate in the booth on the air.

You're right they don't say how good-looking they are, they usually put the camera on and comment about guys that are obese or are dressed strangely. At the SEC baseball tournament they spent about 15 minutes talking about a Tennessee fan wearing a Vol "Cat in the hat" hat. The commentary was essentially, "look at this hillbilly with the flip phone".

Instead of us worried about being in style or "in with the times," let's think according to what we believe is right, and respect each others' opinions.

1st bold - If memory serves (I was watching the game, but paying more attention to the game than Brent's commentary), I think this was more of the issue. Not necessarily what was said, but the manner in which it was said. It seems he didn't just say "she's a pretty girl", but came across more like he was leering at her.

2nd bold - in all fairness...would you rather see the guys in the stands or the ballplayers in uniform? :D (Of course in 2010 Daddy got a lot of TV time by sitting behind the team girlfriends.)

Victim blaming went out of style years ago.

That is a bunch of BS. If women do not want to be looked at in a certain way then do not wear things that draw eyes. This may be a revelation to many but a tight shirt and high heels were not invented nor worn to solidify the male populations walk with Jesus.

Please re-read the thread that led to my post. "Looked at" and "Drawing eyes" were not the actions under fire. It was the comments.
