For what it’s worth on second though I no longer think Texas and Texas A & M will be in the same division. Appears to be too much bad blood and the conference will likely try to appease the Aggies by keeping them away from the Longhorns some.

A&M needs to get over themselves.
I agree about A&M. There is so much in the fan talk and media world about A&M being blind sided on this when its already been confirmed that was not the case. I think the Aggies were big babies about their series with UT when they joined the SEC. Any public stance they take against the Horns will nationally make them look like either they have sour grapes or are scared to compete against UT on an even playing field.

Still, I wonder how our fan base would react if this news was about Clemson. I used to think i would be irate if they were able to join the league but now wonder if it might be good for SC for 2 reasons......1) would give us flexibility in scheduling an additional OOC game to help pad the win total a bit for bowl eligibility and 2) give CU more competition so they dont get a free pass into the CFP every year.

I don't think A&M is afraid to compete with Texas. I just think it may be spite, which is a good thing in a rivalry.
How is spite a good thing in a rivalry when it leads to them not playing at all. Doesn't it then cease being a rivalry?

They should be playing every year, but if A&M's spite can keep Texas out of the SEC, that is good. Of course, A&M shouldn't be in the SEC anyway. They should be in a SWC-Big 8ish-Big 12ish type league with Texas.

Wasn’t it Texas that refused to keep playing A&M?

A&M had the balls to leave the Big 12 when conference realignment first started and Texas didn’t. I would be miffed too if Texas gets rewarded when you’re the one that took the risk to start it.

West Virginia
Kentucky

East - South
Georgia
Florida
Vandy
Auburn

West - Central
Bama
Ole Miss
Miss State
LSU

West - Plains
A&M
Oklahoma
Arkansas
Missouri

You play everybody in your pod, one or two permanent opponents in the other pods to preserve some old SEC rivalries, and 4 or 5 rotating opponents among the other divisions.

You added West Virginia and didn’t allow Texas in. I like it….

Whatever pod alignment you go with, what about year one, you play your 3intra-pod foes and 1.5 of the other pods. Year two, you play your 3 intra-pod foes and the other 1.5 pods. That way you see everyone at least every two years, although it means a 9-game conference slate.
Rivalries within the conference can just be scheduled OOC if they want to maintain. We have to do it with our rival - a strong D1 opponent - as it is. Others can do the same. It just seems a little silly to me for rivalries to hold conference moves/organization hostage. But that’s just me.

My fav:
UTex
Bama
Sooners
LSU
Permanent cross division opponents for UTex: TAMU, UGA & UF 😜

To be fair, they left a conference that was pretty much owned by UT and its boosters, and to have to deal with the deluded UT fanbase and boosters again would piss me off too. They think they're Alabama but play like a mid tier ACC team

So you ok if they do that to us with Clemson?
Jeff, I know what you are saying, but Texas is a very different market than SC. What would be the advantage to bring Clemson into a small market of 5.1 million with SC already there? Bringing Texas into a market of almost 30 million is not the same. Money talks. Personally, if they want Clemson in the SEC, I would be fine with it except they have had their chance and wanted no part of it. We play the taters every year already. Texas and Oklahoma apparently DO want it.

Why is West Virginia in this list and Texas is not?

The one chip we’ve been able to play against Clemson is that we’re in the SEC and they’re not. That’s all kind of gone out the window since they’ve become a dominant program. But it would take away pretty much the only thing our fan base brags about.

I like that except would switch LSU and B10 whore Mo in Pods 1 and 2.

Well, frankly, us selling the SEC vs Clempson hasn't worked too well. If they were in the SEC, getting to the CFP would be a MUCH more challenging task. They totally out recruit us now because they are winning really big.

Each school is one coach away from reversing that.

Yeah when I look at it there’s probably a couple of teams that could bounce in and out of any pod. Your suggestion would be a good one too….unless you’re a Mizzery fan.

65 Power Five schools.

Break them into Eight geographic conferences. One will have nine. Ours

Ours would be Fla, Fla State, Miami, Georgia, Ga Tech, SC, Clemson, NC, NC State.

ALA, Auburn, Miss, Miss St, LSU, Tenn, Vandy, Kentucky

And on and on geographically.

Eight team playoff....no wild cards. Nada, none, zero. One champ. All other 64 teams ranked in a final poll with a BCS structure. It will be a great show and cause for all kinds of outrage.
