Bball transfers

Lets our Choices are VERY limited!! lol, As for me, I AM GLAD, and Hope he does come play for the Gamecocks, hell it cant get any worse than sitting home year after year when the Tourneys comes around..
Actually it can and likely will get worse. We had a winning record this year. Based on what we know now that will not be the case next year. You simply cannot lose virtually your entire team and bring in an unknown coach and not expect the program to go downhill. It's not the new coach's fault, there's nothing he could do about it at this point. It's just the state of our program right now and the terrible decisions being made by out AD.

I do agree, But a Winning record and staying home for all the post season Tournaments, is IMO, as bad as a losing record..

Boy, have some of us become a prisoner of low expectations. Only 3 SEC programs had losing records this year. Two of the coaches for those programs lost their job and the other is probably on the way out if he has another losing season. I believe that when you have been floundering like we have you give someone else a chance. It’s nothing personal. It’s just after 4-5 years, you realize if you have a keeper or not. Martin was not a bad coach. You just had a feeling that you had a ceiling. Some people get comfortable in the starter home and decide they want to stay for life I guess. I just don’t understand how some can just be willing to stand idly by and accept mediocre after what Dawn Staley has done with our women’s program. It should give you a vision of what’s possible. We don’t have to accept mediocre.

Damn, no short player has ever made it in the SEC as a forward. Last time I checked, Charles Barkley was 6'4"...I think he was pretty good in the SEC. The kid has some ability and if he chooses to come here, and Paris thinks he has the talent....bring him on....I don't care if he's blue, magenta, yellow or orange sometimes....If he can Ball and can help us get to the next level, bring his Ass (whatever color it maybe) on in here and let's go.... Go Gamecocks!!!!!!!!
Charles Barkley was a phenomenon.

He had 19 points and 4 rebounds against then #5 Duke last season.
He had 26 points and 6 rebounds against Georgia in the 2019-20 season.
He had 11 points and 4 rebounds against Texas in the 2018-19 season.
He had 22 points and 3 rebounds against Virginia Tech in the 2017-18 season.

Some of our fans are so clueless and stupid. I hate some of them sometimes.
I'll bet they don't hate you. Maybe it's because they don't know you. Maybe it's because you're so clearly better than they are that they can't help but admire you. Maybe it's because they don't think about you at all.

I see we got a white guy from the citadel. Not exactly the transfers we need. I was hoping to read that we are on the guy from SMU that is leaving, but instead we're getting guys from a terrible in state school. Hopefully Carey Rich can help get the recruiting going.
u must be one of those colored people that cannot move forward. move forward colored dude.

Year one for our new coach will be tough (to say the least) . His success going forward will hinge on how fast he can develop relationships with AAU movers and shakers in this state and unruffle some long standing ruffled feathers with some local people who have guided much of the local talent as far away from us as possible. We have to start getting players quick not just warm bodies if we plan to turn this thing around before all of us are cold in the ground. (Captain obvious I know...). The new coach has 6 years to get us to the big dance and establish recruiting channels that will keep us there. Would be 5 but this first year is year zero in my mind due to everybody leaving. Get to work coach!!!

Didn't include Pitt because they weren't very good at 11-21 on the season.
Definitely true but it is impressive for a Southern Conference team to go on the road and handle any ACC team. In theory the ACC team should be better at every position…even Pitt. Brown has definitely proven he can play against better competition and hold his own

I wish Coach Paris luck with that and I would love to see it. Unfortunately those people have been loyal to North Carolina for the longest time. I’ve seen some of the biggest movers and shakers in this state sitting closer to the Tar Heel bench than Michael Jordan. I’m not saying it can’t happen, but it’s going to be EXTREMELY DIFFICULT

Y'all know how we can really jump start the program? Buy a few players. I'm being 100% serious. It takes so many players in football, so it's going to take some time. In basketball, one or two all conference players on the rooster will almost assure postseason play. It doesn't take much. If I was rich, I'd buy a couple all stars, then place a high bet on Carolina to recoup my money spent. Haha.

What you are saying is 100% accurate. Have heard the same thing from several "in touch" sources. What I am hoping for is that we can get the four star kid that plays a position that the blue bloods are full at and rather than go somewhere in the Midwest or north they will stick close to home and come here. If Coach Paris can build enough of a relationship to snag a couple good instate guys and bring in some other kids from out of state he can turn it around quick. If not..... Next man up.

That’s a good point. We’re likely not going to win battles against UNC/Duke but maybe enough bridges can be built to win those battles at home against Ole Miss, Auburn and LSU. That would be a huge step in the right direction.

Charles Barkley was a phenomenon.
Wasn’t Bernard King 6-6? A Tennessee phenomenon. And Elgin Baylor, one of the greatest ever, 6-5. Seattle University. David Thompson 6-4. AD 6-5. It can be done. Not saying Hayden Brown is at a level with those guys, but why not give him a chance?

Do you ever post anything that's not just blah blah blah?

BTW they think about me enough to respond to me same as you.

Statistically I think he will be a William Gallman type player. Not a ton of stats but will bring energy and do a lot of good things that don’t show up in the stat books.

However if we don’t seriously hit the recruiting trail he might be the best player on the roster next year.

At this point, we need to rely heavily on the portal. The high school kids who could help us this, year are already signed. This, coming year is going to be painful. No way around that barring a miracle. 2023-2024 will be the real year one.

It IMO worth suffering through next season, Hell we have been suffering through EVERY season since 2016/2017

How many 6’8 guys are in the state of SC at some time? And. How many of those want to play at Carolina?
We have very few guys that come from SC period, so what does that have to do with it? We've had 6'8" to 6'10" guys on the roster every year since I can remember. We had 6 players on this years roster that were 6'7" or taller. NONE of them were from SC.

A "white guy"? In these politically correct times shouldn't all of the Caucasian segment of the population take offense to that term? Everybody else seems to, so time to join the victims party. In truth, with so many bolting the program, he has to fill out a roster, and USC had exactly the same amount of post season invites as the Citadel. So who knows, he might be better than what was here.
He can probably hit 3s and FTs consistently…….not as flashy as a thunderous dunk every few games followed by 50% FT shooting. Maybe he is exactly what we need. (And I don’t even know who he is).

If Brandon Martin can get 10-12 minutes a game here, this guy can definitely play and succeed. Skilled player that will surprise. Only reason he wasn’t recruited heavily was that he is 6-5 and mostly plays the 4.
If Branden and this guy played 1 on 1, my money is on this kid and I have never seen him play.

We are building a winning culture at Carolina...I want to be competitive and i know it will take time...I also hear we are in good terms with a Transfer from Wofford...I hope we land them both....Evaluators are human and they often overlook talent...Contrary to what many people believe, these star rating system come with a price... if a kid can afford to go to multiple camps (very expensive by the way) then the kid will get a higher star rating....just like everything else money talks and bull crap walks, it's not just about talent.

I've never been to a Citadel game, so no. When you watched him what kind of competition was he playing against? ACC? SEC? or Southern Conf? I don't think there is any comparison to Keyshawn Bryant. Bryant is a freakish athlete who can jump out of the gym. Are you saying this guy is like that? If Bryant could shoot he would've been all conference, but sadly he couldn't make any shots that weren't slam dunks - but he was awesome to watch when he did that. He could also block shots of guys bigger than he is. Can this guy do that? At 225 how quick is he on his feet? Can he defend against super quick athletes he will be facing in the SEC? Or Is he another Justin Minaya?
Key was one of my favorites….but let’s be real, he was probably only 60% on his dunks. They were awesome when they didnt clang off the rim back to mid court. I know olympic sprinters who are freak athletes but I don’t need them on my basketball team. You gotta admit…every time Bryant took a shot from 2 feet or further you held your breath hoping it might go in. Some games he made them. Many he did not. I would take him back bc I think his upside has yet to be reached. But he wasn’t leading us to the promised land.

Take an overlooked “3 star.” If he is recruited by UNC/Duke/Kansas/Kentucky …. the next day he’ll be a “5 star.”

The Davis kid from Detroit Mercy is transferring. He would be a good guy to have. Doubt we have a real chance at it w him.

Key word there. Probably. As in neither of us know. Hell, the ones we’ve had ain’t been worth a crap. By your logic we just need to get taller players and we will be better.
Absolutely NOT. MY logic is don't get the same type players in a shorter, less athletic version. BIG DIFFERENCE!!!!
If you don't like what we've had just think how much you would hate that.

I think the whole premise behind the thread was he’s not that same type player. Idk anything about him, and quite honestly haven’t paid much attention to gamecock basketball since Fogler left. It’s been mighty boring with a few exceptions.

We just landed an Evansville transfer. Didn’t play in a game for the Aces. You’ll have to pull the high school tape.
