Beamer hints that Doty will possibly miss multiple games, Dak back taking snaps at QB...possible to take QB snaps in Game 1

The old adage "if you have two quarterbacks, you have none" jumps to mind here. Hopefully, not the case but usually is.

Good grief. Baloney.

There are not very many teams out there who have 2 very good and equally good QBs battling it out for the starting job. More often than not, when a team has 2 or more equally good QBs, none are very good. It's a generality, of course, but typically the case.

Maybe it won't end up applying here if one of the QBs really distances himself from the others. But reading Beamer's comments gives me the feeling that, so far, we've got 3 (or 4) QBs who aren't exactly lighting it up.

Not surprised.

I did not see the Spring game. Anyone who did, can you say how Brown looked at QB?
Smooth, accurate, poised. Surprised me and stood out like a sore thumb to my eye, and I didn’t even know who he was at the time. Granted spring game is maybe not the best indicator with its restrictions, but you can usually tell when a boxer is legit even when they’re wearing headgear. Not predicting all-sec, but Doty didn’t look like he had improved any, Gauthier and the other guy looked benign. Brown looked like a quarterback.

Dak supposedly has been doing a "wildcat" package before any injury to Luke. But who knows what's the truth.
This should have been in the offense during BOOM!'s rather ineffective tenure. It doesn't take a genius to see when the passing game is inefficient and we run block better anyway. One more running threat just opens the possibilities.

The most detailed analysis of a single pass in spring football history.

It was pretty humorous. Some fans were ready to start his Heisman campaign after 3 spring game passes.

I hope he ends up being great. Good for us if he is. There's just no data out there on him.

According to GG, we also had a grad assistant dressed out and ready to take snaps. Can't link the article for some reason. But here's an excerpt:

  • South Carolina had a new look at quarterback on Tuesday. Former North Dakota State and Iowa State signal caller Zeb Noland — who had been hired at South Carolina as a graduate assistant — suited up during Tuesday’s practice as an extra set of hands under center. Noland could conceivably play another season, given he only used three years of eligibility. It wasn’t immediately known whether he’s been placed on the roster.
Make of it what you will...

I know this. The current staff will do everything within their power to put us in position to win. This is their livelihood. So whoever trots out there to take the first snap, we can rest assured-- he will be the one who they think is best. Let's trust them for now. Go Cocks!

Maybe it's Carson Wentz and Trey Lance wrapped into one. After all, we are the premier diamond in the rough miners!

What I make of it is known as "desperation".

If we’re pulling guys off of the staff to play, let’s just roll the dice, dye his hair and send Connor Shaw out there in a “Noland” jersey and hope no one catches on. What’s the worst that could happen?

“…he may play some quarterback in the first game. Eastern Illinois, East Carolina, Georgia, whoever we play before Luke gets back.”

Clearly he’s anticipating the possibility that Doty will miss multiple games.
Nope , you think that, he didnt say it

If they were smart they would’ve known our best way of winning would’ve been with Dak at QB and take some play calling from Auburn when they had Marshall smh

Again, why would he say WHAT HAS ALREADY BEEN QUOTED FOR YOU??

It's called reading comprehension. Come on, you can do it.
Beamer never said it, the Author of the post mislead you. lol. Read the post headline, then read the body of the article. Damn lmao

*sighs*

Garnetbeamer literally quoted it for you in post 27. So, one more time for the cheap seats:

"He may play some quarterback in the first game. Eastern Illinois, East Carolina, Georgia, whoever we play before Luke gets back,"

If Beamer didn't think there was at least a POSSIBILITY -- which is what the OP said -- that Doty could be out more than just the first game, then there was no reason to say this. Especially the emboldened part.

Such a stupid take, but then again this is FGF.

He has eligibility left, and they needed an extra arm at practice. This is really a nonstory.
Anyone wondering why a grad assistant actually still has eligibility left? So he was a QB. Left football to be a GA with eligibility still on the table. Now is in the mix for an SEC QB slot.
