The buyout is typically a % of the contract, so that will probably change.
It can be, but it could also be written differently. I'll leave that to the lawyers.

But you want to give coach of the year to a guy who had a good season for South Carolina? but not a great season?
oh noesI think he’ll be looking for a huge pay increase. He may want to be here but there are now many other schools that are willing to pay him him huge dollars.
Buyouts are just like salary. They are going to be negotiated based on leverage. Howling monkey fans calling for coaches to be fired at the first signs of adversity doesn't help.

Venables job is safe for one more year, then he goes. Beamer may be a candidate then
Looks like one of the monkeys that escaped the lab in Beaufort.
Fire Ray! Fire Ray! Fire Ray!Looks like one of the monkeys that escaped the lab in Beaufort.
Great post.I can admit when I am wrong. I thought Beamer was a bad hire due to his limited experience, never a head coach, never a coordinator. I have seen a passion to succeed in Coach Beamer that I never saw in Woods, Scott, Holtz, Spurrier, and Muschamp. Spurrier was fantastic but recruiting was not his favorite part of being a head coach. Beamer is attending to every detail and putting in the work.
Well beating Alabama helped him a bunch, but next year may be a 3 or 4 win season. Have you seen what portal did to their WR group? They nearly all left.Yeah, I don't know how his job is safe, but it seems like it is. Talk about doing less with more.

Great observation. The portal can significantly raise your ceiling, and it can immediately lower your floor.
We can put that myth to bed....never a head coach, never a coordinator.
Seems we can we add that a new benchmark for marketable coaches is their ability to harvest talent from the portal.

The season before McGee hired Fat Brad, Scott won a NC at FSU as their OC. Muschamp was DC/HCIW at UTex before bombing at UF.
It's ironic that some of the big "home run hire" names floating around in the past are now guys we wouldn't even think about trading Beamer for.
No consideration that if Beamer was an offensive guy, maybe we end up 10-2 or 11-1 and in the playoff instead of 9-3?
