-- From Chris Clark: Steve Spurrier mentioned during his Sunday teleconference that senior tight end Busta Anderson improved a lot in one day with strained triceps (the opposite arm from the one he had surgery on earlier this season), but USC's starter at the position is still in doubt for Saturday. As Spurrier said, Anderson may not practice until Wednesday. As of now, it looks like the staff is preparing for the possibility that he may not be able to play although from we haven't gathered any final word on that at this point.

We should know more later this week, but we have been told that as of now the plan is for Brendan Nosovitch to make the trip to Auburn to help bolster the numbers at the position. USC of course has Jerell Adams and Cody Gibson, both of whom have played a good bit this season and Drew Owens saw his first action against Furman on Saturday.

-- Middle linebacker Kaiwan Lewis was not on the dress list for the Furman game for what Steve Spurrier termed a violation of team rule. Lewis has been unhappy with with drop in playing time after being firmly in the rotation early in the season as Marcquis Roberts and T.J. Holloman are now playing the majority of the snaps. That frustration bubbled over into an argument with linebackers coach Kirk Botkin, which led to Lewis leaving the practice field one day last week. Lewis returned to practice and should be fine going forward with Saturday's game representing time served so to speak.

-- Redshirt freshman D.J. Park served as the team's backup right tackle on Saturday and I continue to hear positive things about Park's development and his opportunity to get in the mix for a starting job next season. While Park physically looks like a guard, his time at the tackle position has been a positive and he could stick there for a while. The issue with Park has always been more about consistency than actual talent. He just needs to put it all together.

-- Freshman cornerback Wesley Green has worked on both the actual team in practice and on the practice squad at times, though he's firmly in the redshirt category. Despite the other three freshman defensive backs playing and him redshirting, I'm told that Green still has a bright future in the program and that the redshirt year should allow him to have a better understanding of the playbook. It can often be hard for athletes who are used to being their teams star player to not play, but Green is happy at South Carolina and content with the decision to redshirt.

-- South Carolina should get defensive end David Johnson back for Saturday's game and he'll be a much-needed boost to that position. Johnson appeared to be coming on prior to the injury and provides the size that South Carolina will desperately need at that position against a running offense like Auburn's. The Tigers run the ball from the shotgun as well as any team in the country, as you know.
