They win the national championship and haul in an eye popping number of 3 stars—-16 out of 28 recruits. The other teams ranked in the Top 15 by Rivals only averaged 9 three star players. And to boot, their ranking is boosted by having 28 in the class. I know that this is adequate, even superior, in the ACC. But they didn’t exactly “reload” and these three star players may turn out to be superstars, BUT....I don’t see how they contribute right away either. Sure they’ll be good enough to win in the high school league they play in and likely return to the playoffs in 2019, but recruiting like this won’t land them in the playoffs year after year as it has the past four years. No matter what qualifiers anyone puts on recruiting and filling needs, this number of three stars for a national champion team is astounding/alarming, and if I was a Clemson fan, I’d be really concerned if my standard is natty/playoffs or bust.
