It probably didn't help them that out of the top 6 teams in the ACC (other than themselves), they didn't play 2 (UNC and Duke), got swept by one (NCSU), went .500 against another (FSU), and only beat one (UL, 2-1).

I listened to the Tanner response about seeding and he basically said, " Although Clemson had better record than UNC they were tied in conference play but the fact Clem got swept by NCSt and did not play UNC, UNC got the go ahead. FSU was based on winning ACC tourney and great close to the season."
