Burgess has announced that he is entering the transfer portal. This is a good indication that Jonathan French is likely headed to Columbia. Burgess was a career .231 hitter with nine home runs and a .342 career on-base percentage. Burgess is a Lexington, KY native and maybe looking to get closer to home. Burgess was considered a plus defensive catcher. French threw out 9 of 31 base stealers for Clemson and Burgess hosed 10 out of 34. Their percentages were nearly identical. Carolina brought in Talmadge LeCroy and Cole Messina in last years class and are set to enroll A.C. Flora catcher Zander Buchan in this class.
