Some schools invite certain players to walk on. They are called "preferred walk-ons." They are lured with the promise that they will be given a serious chance to earn a scholarships. They are usually positions which the coaches do not wish to burn a scholarship on for example kicker, holder, deep snapper, special teams players. PS: If you earn the starting job in your skills area you go to the top of the waiting list for the next available scholarship.

The kid is a gamecock. I love his comment about how he is ready to pave the way for the next great running back at USC. I know one thing for sure, the kid is strong as an ox. bench press 385 and squat 540. That is pretty impressive.
