With our early enrollees does anyone want to speculate as to what our 2 deep will look like by the end of spring practice?

DE's: Dante Sawyer, Qua Lewis, Dexter Wideman (Rushing downs), Gerald Dixon, Darius English (Only if he picks up another 15-20 lbs.)

DT's: Gerald Dixon Jr, Taylor Stallworth, Dexter Wideman (Passing downs), Phillip Dukes, Abu Lamin

I truly believe we will end the year with the nation's best D line. This defense will be loaded. I have us winning the East and playing Alabama in the SEC title game. Win that and we are in the playoff.

I think you guys are overlooking my dude Quandeski "Boozy" Whitlow. A guy named Boozy...he just sounds like a bad a$$. I'm ready to spot the ball! I have us at 11-1. Only 2 possible losses are Georgia and LSU. The rest are cupcakes.

I hope Whitlow is a pass rushing demon so the crowd can chant "BOOOOOOOZY"

Spring
First String: English, Griffin, Dixon, Allen-Williams
Second String: Johnson, Lamin, Dukes, Washington
Third String. McClain, Stallworth, Wideman, Cooper

Next year:

First String: Lewis, Griffin, Dixon, Allen-Williams
Second String: Sawyer, Lamin, Dukes, English
Third String: Blackshear, Stallworth, Johnson, McClain

Rabbit: Lewis, Blackshear, Wideman, Allen-Williams

Redshirt: Witlow, Covington, Jones.

So, we recruited a half dozen DL, multiple JUCO/ prep school guys with the intent purpose of bringing in guys who could make an immediate impact... And you see NONE cracking the starting lineup, and you think that a LB who was moved to DE as a freshman for a few games because we just had no other viable options short of pulling the RS off kids who weren't ready to play... Will stay at DE, and START again next year? Riiiiiiiiigggghhht.... If our D coaches try to roll out these same players as our starters next year there will be riots in the stands, and they will be crapping visors for weeks. This has to be some kind of stupid joke.

I respectfully disagree regarding English. Ward's failure was his inability to place players in positions where they can be successful. English should have been placed at LB last year. He doesn't weigh enough to be an SEC DE so he gets pushed out of the way whether it be a run or pass. His stats last year speak for themselve. At LB he has a lot of potential.

Re: The only scary part of this is from past experience this

poster may actually be a pseudonym for Deke Adams and Ward......and they may actually go with the worst DL in the last two decades without changes...

Actually not getting rid of Adams leaves me to believe that we are headed to even worst defensive teams over the next three years.....I have no doubt that we are going in the UNC territory where we will give up a 70 spot to a ECU or UK while not even slowing down the UGAs\LSUs of the schedule. All the while getting "great recruiting" classes of course....that is what Adams did at UNC....and has been doing here.

Of course, the Adams\Wards will point out the great first down stats which keeps dropping.....well you do not have many first down on 4 play scoring drives where the opposition gets 30 yds a play.

Here is just one mission for this overmatched defensive staff over the spring......learn to stop the FREAKING QB DRAW.

English needs to move to LB...

And they need to go back to a 4 man front...

SClanding, you touched on issues I have been livid over. Adams dline is horrid. He took over a very talented line and turned them into a laughing stock. However, I fully expect Hoke won't put up with such and our dline will be improved. That's what I expect. Then again, I thought a NEW SC program would hire a top replacement when Lawing left for Florida. I actually saw one of our ends last year, just up in the air and try to jump around the defender. It looked like a sad game of keep away at times. Can't play the run and we couldnt get sacks had it been flag ball out there. If we don't improve, we certainly might lose to UNC in the opener.

English has absolutely zero agility. He can't run in a straight line without falling down. English isn't an SEC player nor is he even a D1 prospect.

No possible way you believe even one sentence of that.

Funny people saying English isn't a D1 prospect when he was a 4 star player and Defensive player of the year his senior year in Georgia.

I think the assumption was he would gain some weight. Regardless, he hasn't shown he can be successful at DE.

I said, Lewis will start. The others will play. We'll have our rabbit package back. Stop freaking out. I don't see Allen-Williams going back to Linebacker. He is a weakside edge rushing specialist and I see him putting on a few pounds and staying there.

Well, he hasn't seemed to be told to transfer yet, so that tells me he is still a guy our coaches refuse to give up on.

With so many untested players on defense this year, no one really knows how many games we win but I must say on paper we look much better than last year.

English was a 3-star but if you look at his highlight film the kid could flat out play. His issues are related to his lack of stature.

Darius English

Man, If I were you I would just spend my next 12 months fishing.. Why even bother worrying about a team that is so poorly coached and hopeless???

English at olb solves weight issues. Bam. a 235 lb. athlete opposite Moore and Walton. We have wiggle room. Throw BAW in. He is a stud, waiting to be properly utilized.
We got a chance,guys.
