Sources indicate that a name to watch for the DL opening at South Carolina is Jimmy Lindsey, who served under Gamecock defensive coordinator Clayton White at Western Kentucky.
Lindsey spent three seasons with White, coaching the defensive line in 2017 and then the defensive ends (and recruiting coordinator) in 2018 and 2019. Lindsey spent the 2020 season at Illinois, where he developed 2nd-team All-Big 10 selection Owen Carney. In 2019, he coached the conference defensive player of the year, DeAngelo Malone.
Interestingly, Lindsey is a Cheraw, South Carolina native. He has another current staffer tie in that he had carryover with Marcus Satterfield on the staff at Chattanooga in 2010-2011.
