we had hired Kirby Smart?? We may even pick up MciLwain tomorrow to add to these guys, too. We might have gotten maybe a couple of them, but probably not all of them. Recruiting is pretty much a full time thing nowadays (which is why they have recruiting co-ord's now), but KS is still coaching his old team through early January.
Our recruiting was in a death spiral and we desperately needed to do something to stop the bleeding. It looks like we made the best move we could have possibly made by bringing in WM, who is now hiring some top notch recruiter-coaches. We still don't know how our coaching will turn out until we see it, but we've gotten a nice glimpse of how our recruiting will likely be going in the future and it's very bright. I hope that UGA's recruiting takes a big hit now because of their approach to firing a 9-10 win coach and bringing in an unproven co-ord, who is still working his old job. KS may turn out to be a fine head coach, but who knows?
