Well that didn't take long. The fake slide has gone the way of the fake fair catch.
You knew that was coming. The slide rule only exists to protect the qb. Either this rule goes into effect or it is open season on running qbs.Well that didn't take long. The fake slide has gone the way of the fake fair catch.

As usual, the NCAA gets it wrong again.
- If there is no penalty,
- and it's not reviewable,
- then the QB has no reason not to try it anyway.
- If the ref misses the call, it's not reviewable.
- If he makes the call, the ball is down at the fake slide point so no loss to the Offense.
- It needs to be that same as waiving for a fair catch, then taking off.
- Can you imagine if that play carried no penalty, people would try it all the time in hopes the ref doesn't really see it. A subtle waive of the arm, and you're off with no consequences. Refs miss tons of sh!t so lots of people would get away with it.
- Add a penalty to it and less chance of someone attempting it.
Yup.Heads up play while it was legal. But it needed to get the ax quick. And it did.
