The South Carolina coaching staff will cap off a loaded week of high school visits on Friday before returning back to Columbia on Saturday for the second junior day of the year.
Head coach Shane Beamer is once again on the road and today he'll be in Charlotte along with offensive coordinator Marcus Satterfield, defensive backs coach Torrian Gray, and wide receivers coach Justin Stepp checking in on Charlotte Catholic, Charlotte Christian, Providence and Hickory Ridge.
Those are some loaded schools as far as South Carolina targets go with four-star 2024 QB Jadyn Davis now at Providence Day as well as 2023 three-star DB Chris Peal, who seems to have emerged as a priority guy for Gray. Class of 2024 WR Jordan Shipp also has an offer from the Gamecocks and 2024 WR Channing Goodwin could be a future offer candidate. Class of 2025 DB Braxton Winston also already has an offer from Carolina. With that list, you can see why Satterfield, Gray and Stepp are all dropping by.
Hickory Ridge is home to big-time 2023 four-star WR Christian Hamilton, ranked one of the top 100 prospects in the country and a Carolina target.
You've likely already heard the name of Charlotte Catholic 2024 TE Jack Larsen, a priority target for Erik Kimrey.
At Charlotte Christian, the Gamecocks have an offer out to 2024 WR Micah Gilbert.
On top of the stops with Beamer, Stepp is scheduled to stop in on Rock Hill HS and South Mecklenburg HS and Gray is set to hit Christ School, home to 2024 DBs Zack Myers and Cayden Lee, both of which have offers from the Gamecocks.
** Defensive coordinator Clayton White and new assistant Sterling Lucas are hitting in-state territories today with stops at Sumter, Crestwood, Lakewood, Johnsonville, South Florence and West Florence on the docket.
Sumter 2023 four-star DE Monteque Rhames is of course a major priority for the staff and the Gamecocks also have an offer out to West Florence DB Kelvin Hunter.
** Offensive line coach Greg Adkins is set to hit the upstate today where Greenville, Dorman and Gaffney are among the stops.
The Gamecocks are of course after Dorman 2023 four-star Markee Anderson, who will visit on Saturday, and Greenville 2024 WR Mazeo Bennett, who is also set for a visit Saturday.
** Running backs coach Montario Hardesty is set to hit his hometown of New Bern on Friday. The Gamecocks are in the top 5 for 2023 three-star DT Keith Sampson there.
Hardesty is also set to check in on Havelock (shoutout Pharoh Cooper and Corey Robinson) and several other eastern NC schools.
** Erik Kimrey is in the Midlands today where he'll check in on Chapin, home to 2024 QB target Jayden Bradford. He'll also check in on Irmo, Dutch Fork, Lexington, Gray Collegiate and Brookland-Cayce.
** Jimmy Lindsey is scheduled to complete his Georgia trip today with stops at the high schools of priority four-star DL targets Vic Burley and Zavion Hardy.
He'll also stop in on Georgia Military, among other schools.
** Special teams coordinator Pete Lembo is in Pennsylvania today checking in on several schools, including Roman Catholic, where the Gamecocks have offered 2023 four-star WR Tyseer Denmark, and Neumann-Goretti, home of intriguing three-star DB Shawn Battle (no SC offer yet but great name).
