June 17, 2016.. we post that the 2017 Gamecock basketball team will reach the Final Four...Your response would have been the same a it is to this post...After the womens basketball team punked out at Missouri in Feb., i predicted an 11 game winning streak...I was told to keep dreaming, we don't have the talent and nobody is beating UCONN and that Geno might be god...Okay i'll keep dreaming or whatever you want to call it...I have faith

Nope. I'll make an 11-game prediction, as being wrong simply isn't in my vernacular.

I'll say this much.....I think we'll score plenty, even though our OL as a collective is still only Sun Belt caliber. Our defense has me greatly concerned. It's a personnel matter. We simply don't have much, & in places we do, there is zero depth. I really want an 8 win season with win #8 coming vs. Clem.....but I don't see an 8 win team on this roster. Scary.

I was scolded for saying the defense will struggle. The offense has a real chance to improve. The linebackers will be a problem all year. Can have zero injuries and the starters have to play 80 plus pct of the snaps. I want to see improvements on defense but honesty do not see it on this roster.

Our offense will be better, our defense will not be improved and the schedule is tougher. Looks like another 6-6 year. Defense is a year away from being competitive.

Game by game predictions are so tough this early. We don't know what we'll have and we don't know what the other teams will have.

Barring significant surprises either way, I see 9-3 as our reasonable ceiling and 5-7 as our reasonable floor. So I'm going with 7-5 as my prediction although I hope most of your are right and I am wrong.
 
Vs NC State (Charlotte) Toss up - the fact that is toss up, shows how far fallen

@ Mizzou W - they stink

vs UK toss up - they were playing great at end of year

vs LA Tech W - duh

@ Texas AM - Toss up - not sure what to expect of them

vs Arkansas L - they are looking better

@ UT W - by this point, butch is on the way out

vs Vandy W - they are vandy

@ UGA L - they should be better

vs UF L - closer than the roster comparison should be

vs Wofford W - they will score a lot, so will we

vs Clemson L - do not score much on that D

5-7 bottom / 8-5 top

This will not be a good team until the lines get better. With this schedule, record could look pretty good. If it were the SEC of 6-7 yrs ago, it would be ugly to be honest
