1. Five prospects to watch in the Palmetto State for 2022
While South Carolina’s football staff continues to work on the 2021 recruiting class, several names have emerged in the next crop – the class of 2022 – that are of intrigue. That group includes several within the borders of the Palmetto State. Here, we take a look at a handful of South Carolina prospects that the Gamecock staff likes so far.
• Jaleel Skinner – This Greer product is a long-time offer holder, having picked up the first in-state scholarship distributed by the staff. The 6-foot-5 wideout has been on campus numerous times and has heavy interest in the Gamecocks.
• EJ Evett – A Seneca wide receiver, Evett popped up almost out of nowhere and garnered an offer during a campus visit earlier this year. Others will likely follow, but South Carolina was able to grab an early foothold with the Upstate product.
• Adam Randall – He’s picked up several offers, including from the ACC and SEC, and South Carolina could be close. Randall played last season at Myrtle Beach with recent Gamecock quarterback signee Luke Doty.
• Jeadyn Lukus – A long cornerback prospect, Lukus also has SEC offers from Florida and LSU, among other schools. South Carolina will have some work to do to get established as a contender, but will be in the mix now that the staff has offered.
• Jaylen Sneed – We have been told from folks down that way that Sneed could be one of the most highly recruited prospects to ever come out of Beaufort County. He has nice measurable and big-time production in high school and is another that the Gamecocks could be close to pulling the trigger on with an offer.

March 23, 2006 - USC's drive to be the first team to repeat as NIT Champions since St. John's in 1943 and 1944 took a step forward as the Gamecocks outlasted Cincinnati 65-62 to advance to the semifinals in New York. The Bearcats led 37-33 in the second half when Tre Kelley keyed a Carolina run with nine consecutive points to put USC in the lead. Cincinatti would come back and tie the game, but it would be Kelley again, this time with a layup with 48 seconds left for the decisive basket. Kelley led USC with 21 points, with Tarence Kimsey (18) and Brandon Wallace (13) also in double figures. Future USC guard Devan Downey scored for 10 for Cincinnati, his last game with UC before transferring to the Gamecocks.
