Given the latest news on football recruiting commitments...

difficult to tell if this is frustrated free flowing venom or outright stupidity

so far, our coach has brought energy few, if any, of us have ever seen before

time will tell

go cocks!
This is a solid point. This level of excitement started when we stopped playing football. We were not good at it. I expect the current level of excitement to dwindle only when the season hits mid October. Be on the lookout for another spike in excitement during the 2022 off season.

Ellis Johnson was on Clowney since the 8th grade. Stephon Gilmore and Marcus closed the deal with him. But yes, Coach Beamer was the recruiting coordinator then.
To be fair, yes, Ellis noticed Clowney early while he was recruiting guys like Gilmore.

Truth is, EJ wasn’t making headway with Clowney, and handed his recruiting over to Ward.

Shane didn’t really have anything to do with the signing of Clowney. What he DID do was improve the recruiting system Reaves had in place. Which Jr promptly destroyed.

I like the direction and energy he’s trying to build. Because of that, we’re now back in the game with a 4* OL who’d visited under Muschamp and had written us off.

This is the first class of his own. He’s done (on paper) what appears to be a remarkable job filling holes through the portal. His staff seems to be energetic and on the same page. I’m looking forwards to seeing what they can do.

What do you think of Shame Beamer now???

Did it iimprove your confidence on Beamer?

Remember, Beamer was the reason Spurrier had great season at South Carolina...
Well we all know Alabama. UGA, LSU,and Clemson fight hard for the three star talent nationwide...oh right.

What does anyone expect, no five star athletes are coming here before we show results. The best we can hope for is that our three stars should have been four and a couple of fours should have been rated fives. If our talent evaluation and coaching to strengths takes a step up maybe Beamer could succeed. Right now it is all going to be a question. If we don't beat Eastern Illinois by 20+, I'd start worrying.

My prediction hasn't change fr this year... 3 wins this year and 6 wins next year....

I would find 3 wins this year underwhelming, and I believe recruits would too. I think Beamer has done a pretty good recruiting job, given what he had to work with (mainly, 2 wins). He will need to demonstrate to recruits that he can exceed expectations on the field before he can recruit with the upper half of the SEC and I don't think 3 wins next year demonstrates that.

This is what people are really ignoring. If he can't recruit well early, he's not going to improve quickly. And if he doesn't improve quickly, recruits aren't going to buy in to his vision.

So it becomes a catch 22 quickly.

Could it be that those 11 win seasons were the result of the system in place by multiple star coaches and not just any one person? I'm trying to figure out why everyone is so eager to find a hill to die on with this argument.
It was a combination of things: better recruiting, Ellis Johnson as DC, Shawn Elliott as OL coach and we finally found a QB. (Connor Shaw)

The wise thing to do is wait to see what Beamer does on the field. He could be Frank Beamer or could be Frank Barone. I preferred a young coach with proven collegiate Head Coaching experience like Caldwell or Napier. Was adamantly against Beamer hire. BUT, I have come to like it more and more. BUT, let's wait for results on the field before making him out to be a Hall Of Famer.

Agree. Really, really needs to win 6 this season to turn recruits' heads.

Beamer was Spurrier's recruiting coordinator for 2009 - 2010

In his final two years in Columbia, Beamer also served as recruiting coordinator for the Gamecocks. The 2009 class was ranked 12th best in the nation by Scout.com and Rivals.com and included future NFL draft picks Stephon Gillmore and Alshon Jeffery.[5]Both the 2010 and 2011 recruiting classes ranked in the top 25 and included future South Carolina stars Marcus Lattimore and Connor Shaw.[5]

This paid dividend for back to back to back 11-2 seasons....
...and everyone knows that Wolford recruited his butt off that solid year he was at SC. His recruiting literally paved the way for a good and energetic OL Coach Elliott to continue the success. Lawing is unquestionably a good recruiter....look at the names and players he brought in while he was at SC.
Of course from 08-11 we got 4 Mr. Footballs which never hurts....and I understand Beamer was part of this. But, with SOS leading the way, big money donors stepping up.....a lot of things were going right.

It all starts at the top, though. Big name and more impotantly LEGIT HC with a good, hard working staff on and off the field. It is gonna take more than hope these days.

Apparently there are some people on this forum who don't know what a Recruiting Coordinator is......or does. If Beamer is very successful and recruits lots of All Americans, are these same people going to give all the credit to the Recruiting Coordinator? SMH.

yes. who ever is in charge of recruiting efforts, should get credit. as of right now, there is no official recruiting coordinator on staff, which leads me to believe beamer has assumed that role. i could be wrong though.

Do you actually know what a recruiting coordinator does? It's mainly an administrative role, hence the word "coordinator". He works with the whole staff to determine the main targets and areas of need. He works with the academic folks to make sure recruits qualify before being signed. He makes sure that everyone is following the rules so as not to get in trouble with the NCAA. He provides the recruiters with data they need in their recruiting efforts. He rarely does any recruiting of individual athletes. If Beamer is doing all this then he is making a huge mistake. He would be taking his valuable time away his coaching duties to compile data and perform administrative functions that he could assign to someone else.

Beamer is going to do well as the coach of USC!! I remember when he was in charge of recruiting during Spurriers tenure. I would see him at some small private school games. Some of the schools you would not ever believe would be on his radar!! He will leave no stone unturned!!

That’s right. And Paul McCartney was “the bass player.” 🙄

Really? So being a RC means you leave the recruiting to the other coaches?
Seems Shane Beamer's name is attached to numerous recruits that signed with us.
Maybe Rivals is lying and only you know the truth?

this aint a recruiting coordinator for a local job fair bud. he’s overseeing all efforts by the staff. vetting potential recruits is most likely handled by the clearinghouse. he was also a coach while recruiting coordinator during his earlier years while here. he was also evaluating talent, and seeing recruits face to face. the reason there isnt a recruiting coordinator as of now is because beamer is doing all of that, but delegates smaller tasks to mrs jackson and her assistant jasmine.

He makes sure the leftover Halloween candy is left out, ensures that the HC isn’t around when top recruits are on campus and on the odd chance that the HC is around makes sure he has no clue who the kids are so he leaves a lasting impression.

I don’t think you really grasp how much these guys keep up and how many HCs are now involved in this level of recruitment. Mack Brown delegates almost all of the actual coaching to his staff so he can focus on recruiting as does Dabo. Even Saban is more involved in recruiting than the X and O piece of coaching.

that’s two 4*s in 48 hrs. just say uncle already. your arms are twisted so far behind your back.

It will be interesting if Brubaker remains a 4 star on rivals. He’s a 3 star on both 247 and espn. The same applies to Anthony Rose.

Of course you guys will argue it’s a conspiracy against USC if their rankings drop.

Are you involved with the program? Do you know what the duties are? None of us know exactly what Beamer will do with this position since he has never been a HC and has only been here a few months. Every school is somewhat different, however, the general consensus is that it is primarily an administrative role:

"The majority of the job requires the coordinator to work closely with the compliance office for specifics of NCAA recruiting rules (or other rules, e.g., NJCAA rules). Additionally, the coordinator is responsible for assessing the athletes’ academic status in conjunction with the university’s entrance requirements. Both written and verbal communications are central to the coordinator’s success as he will constantly be involved with marketing the college, recruiting the athlete, and communicating with all parities impacting the athlete’s choice of which institution to attend."

Here is an actual job description for a D-1 school:

Sure thing Einstein. Why don't you disclose how you know all this inside information about the job duties of the USC football personnel? Perhaps because you are just talking out of you a$$?

Sorry for actually wanting to be in love with a program that wins.

I've been here since 1998, dont let the new account fool you. I go back to Ercoupe, Trooperdel, Cockfyte and many many others. Real Gamecocks who wouldnt disparage this team or coaching staff or its recruits before one GD game is played. Get on board or get lost.
