I saw this topic posted years ago on the Rivals main board and it had some interesting responses from getting bitten by various animals.

I've been lucky. I've only gotten bitten by a parakeet and a duck when I was like 6 years old. I cried like a wuss from the duck bite, even though it didn't hurt.

I was bitten in the face by a dog when I was 6 had to go have a lot of stitches.
I also was bitten by a undetermined bug in the jungle of Nicaragua, I was in misery for weeks!

I’ve probably been snipped here & there, but nothing serious. My nephew was mauled (luckily not bad in the face) my an Alaskan Malamute when he was young. It was the dog of long-time neighbors. The dog jumped up on him friendly, but the 10-year old tripped & lost his balance somehow freaking the dog out. He had to get stitches mostly for bites on his head & shoulder. A year or so later, he had a bump on his head. He mashed it & green stuff & some grass came out. That was 35 years ago and still a sight I won’t forget.

Deer lord, what kind of dog? Was it just out of the blue?

A Chinese Chow. It walked into my yard and just bit me. The bites from Nicaragua were wworse I think.
I had 100 bites that lasted for over a month. It woke me up every night, the itching was awful.

The worst I ever had was my brother’s dog- a smallish Weimaraner (they are all pretty big but his was a little small for the breed, had a gimpy arm..)... I was just kneeling next to him while he was laying on the floor, petting him and talking to my Sister in law... next thing I knew he let out a high pitched bark and chomped right at my face! (Still have no clue why) I was trying to dodge it and pull back, but he still got me- his top teeth crashed into the bridge of my nose and one of the bottom ones went up my nose! I was lucky, it was kind of a glancing blow.... It wasn’t that bad/painful, no permanent scars but I bled... The real damage was I had problems getting back to liking/trusting big dogs again. I got over it, have a dog today but I was nervous around dogs being at face level with me for a while after it happened.

I had a friend who was bitten on the arm by a poisonous snake. It was so bad his arm had to be amputated. He had a hard time adjusting to life with only one arm. He couldn’t perform his job and soon lost it. He had a hot wife who left him. He became so depressed that he decided to end it all. There was a high cliff near his home and he planned to simply walk off the edge. On the way he spotted a man with no arms jumping around with a happy expression on his face. Perplexed, he approached the man and said, “I’ve just have to know. How can you possibly be so happy with no arms? What’s your secret?” The armless man replied, “Sure. I’ll tell you anything you want. But first, can you scratch my ass?”

When I was ~ 5 years old, my grandparents had a chicken coop...including one mean rooster. One day, he flew up on to my shoulder and started pecking hard at my ear and the side of my face. Hurt pretty bad, although the surprise attack was more frightening.

I had the last laugh, however...we ate the chicken for dinner a couple nights later. True story.

Several non venomous snakes. I lived in a very snake infested town called Liberty Hill, S.C. when I was kid and we had 2 fish ponds. I stayed outside fishing or exploring with my younger brothers, and in doing so, encountered many snakes. Being the older brother (and show-off), I got a little too comfortable with a few of them and they got me. The worst was a ~ a 6' black snake. He got me in the wrist and held on.

Fire ants, well stung really. Got in them pressure washing in flip flops. Didn’t know I was getting bitten until foot went numb. Had around 40 places on one foot.

On another note, anyone else been bitten by a wasp? Sucked big ones....hurt worse than getting stung.

I was jumping off of a large cliff along the James River in Virginia and accidentally stepped on a honey bee. That SUCKED. Also got nailed by a wasp, which sucked just as much. And then, the worst, happened when I was about 7-8 years old. Walked over to the next door neighbors house. They werent at home. Stumbled off of the brick steps and fell onto their St. Bernard that was sitting by the steps. Super friendly dog - never hurt a flea - but when I fell on him, it scared him and he reacted and bit me in the back of the head. Pretty good bite. I still remember walking out into the front yard where these landscapers were working and they just stared at me dumbfounded because of the blood gushing from my head. Walked next door home and my dad rushed me to the ER. I had a head full of stitches for the next few weeks. Still have a scar running all the way across the back of my head to this day....

I’ve gotten some seriously nasty bluefish bites . My buddy had a 9lb bluefish damn near take his finger off . Not sure how many stitches but it was nasty .
Here’s an even crazier story , my other buddy worked on a boat in Panama and they were running wide open to the Bluewater and a Wahoo skied on a baitfish and flew thru the transom and hit the driver in the head . Guy was in intensive care for almost a month but survived . Damn miracle it didn’t kill him instantly.

Malaria carrying mosquitos when I was living in Africa. Contracted the fever twice while there, and it came back to get me again 3 years later in South Carolina.
The fever causes a dream-like state which lasts for a day or two. If you are lucky someone is giving you liquid to keep you hydrated. I didn't eat anything at all during the fever, and just lay in my bed. When the fever broke, in a way I almost missed it...sort of like a friend had left me to face reality again.

Back in '72 I got bitten by our third baseman. He was an animal at third. But that Popfly was as high as a skyscraper and near home plate. It was mine. When we collided, his teeth went through my cheek and into my top gum. It took 15 stitches, but I held onto the ball

I was the one that started that thread back then. I got bit on the left hand by a horse and a parrot in the same summer years ago. The parrot bite hurt worse, believe it or not.

Also, I've recently been bitten by an inebriated midget.

My mom loved animals and we had every animal you could think of growing up-dogs, cats, snakes, gerbils, hamsters, Guinea pigs. When I was a kid my mom came home with a dog she named Angel. I got in that dog's face to pet her one day and she bit me good on the face between my nose and lip. Still have scar of a dog tooth to this day (hardly noticeable to anyone but I can see it).

I've been bitten by a few dogs, some nasty ants, a possum, a snake and a horse. The worst one was the damn horse. Don't ever let those things get you.

A neighbor had a large mix breed. He caught me from behind when I wasn’t looking and bit me right square in the azz. I swear it felt like someone smacked me in the butt with a 2x4.

3 trained German Shepherd attack dogs. Would've been 1984. The folks who lived 2 houses down from us had a son who moved back home and had 4 of the dogs. Was riding my bike to a friend's one Saturday afternoon when I heard something behind me and looked and saw the dogs chasing me. Lost my focus and hit something and fell off the bike. What happened after is self-explanatory. It could've been the end except...it was an unseasonably cool Fall day in Columbia, so my dad had the windows open as well as the back door. On a Saturday he would have usually been back in his study doing some work, but on this particular Saturday a Penn State football game was on tv, so he was back and forth to check the score of the game (native Pennsylvanian and PSU fan). He happened to come and check the game when he heard something outside and saw what was happening. He ran out and scared the dogs away somehow. Ended up with a crap ton of stitches and missing a bunch of school and a small settlement. A couple weeks later, the dogs got out and were on the playground of the public school across the street (Mill Creek). The dogs were put down after that.

You are lucky. German Shepherds will tear you up. That is all my dad would have when I was growing up. All of ours were really good, sweet dogs with the exception of one - the only female we had. My dad finally took her down to Charleston to the Naval weapons station and gave her to them....

Please forgive me for being so opinionated here but, I sincerely hope that you chum instead of troll. I simply can not comprehend the concept of trolling for Bluefish. The 'Hit' is what you live for. The 'Fight' is just an opportunity to showoff your experience.

The word "bluefishchummin" is a special word for a group of about 10 of us.

My 'Fish Story' ... out for bluefish, on a Party Boat, hot, still, no breeze, crappy, no luck day. About 2 PM, WHAM!!! Got a 32 lb albacore. Took over 15 minutes to bring him in.

So when I was a kid in grade school in Columbia there was this kindergarten kid who was kind of built like a little pink gorilla with a crew cut -- and he was what we'd probably call special needs nowadays.
Anyway, one day me and a buddy were walking past and said something to set this kid off and he went apes---t and bit us both ....

Also been bit by various dogs and a ferret named Arnold Palmer.

Blessed, indeed! My dad's initial instinct was to go to the garage and get a shovel b/c he didn't know how he'd get 4 dogs off me (well, just 3. I'll never forget, one of the dogs was just standing there watching the others.) Nevertheless, he just ran out the door and stomped his foot and yelled and they miraculously took off. We met with the police and various other specialists and they said if my dad had gone to get a shovel, then I'd likely have been dead before he got to me.

The guy who owned the dogs was mean to them and made them mean dogs.

Same here. I was about 5 or 6 and was bitten in the face by a Pekingese, of all things. I had to have 6 stitches across my nose.

Since then, I've only been bitten by EVERY MOSQUITO ON EARTH.

Nah I never troll for them . The only time I really target blues is I like to go out on a full moon and throw big topwaters at them . We don’t really target them a lot down here but we don’t really get the big bruisers that you guys get on the east coast . If we did I would definitely target them . Yeah Albacore are a blast . We actually get a lot of Blackfin Tuna’s that run the beach during the fall and winter . Some guys actually catch them in kayaks or off the piers .

Are you even a South Carolinian if you haven't been bitten by fire ants?

We had them bad in our yard when I was a kid. My dad had enough and dumped some gasoline on the mounds and lit them on fire. It worked. Though it certainly wasn't environmentally friendly.

My son's guinea pig bit my finger. I washed my hands and forgot about it. A few days later I was at the hospital having emergency surgery to flush out the wound so I wouldn't get blood poisoning. Missed a few days work but none of my kids baseball games.

I was once visiting a gay big cat owner in Oklahoma and his many husbands. Anyway, they had just finished shooting a country music video and we were having a lunch of pizza topped with expired Wal-Mart meat while discussing this horrible animal rights activist who murdered her first husband when, lo and behold, a friggin' tiger jumps a fence and rips my arm off. No biggie. I was back to work 7 days later.
