Having the mental edge was nice while it lasted.

For that spell our guys went into that game knowing they were better. From the opening whistle we got punked last night. Starting with Renfro fooling our guys. They didn’t do a lot of smack talk. They were all business. Fact is they have played a lot of meaningful football the last few years. This was business for them. Seemed we wanted to jaw anytime we did something remotely good. And we are squarely back to the way it’s always been save 5 straight years.... our guys see that Paw and pee themselves. I saw one of their starters shaking his head as their reserves gave up a TD to us late. They still hate our guts. They just don’t show it with their mouth.
We gotta get back to showing it without the smack talk.

Agree 100%. And unfortunately, that's a product of the coaching they're getting. Champ needed to send Skai Moore to the bench after his thug like mauling of their QB 30' from the field. Nothing like sending a star to the bench and chewing his butt out. Champ has a lot of learning to do in making young men into football players that treat it as business. Dablow and staff get that part.

You must really like Skai! You keep commenting on him and his play. For the record if that “tackle” is what you consider thug like mauling, you need to stay home because the real world may be too aggressive for you. Lmao THUG lol you don’t even know what his character or background is. Let’s sit him on the bench in the bowl game....that’ll teach him a lesson since you want to see what kind of “learner” he is from your other post. Thanks for being a true fan...GO COCKS!

Besides their physical superiority, the Clemson players whooped our ass big time in the “mental” department. Like it or not, that is one attribute that all championship caliber teams possess. Our players could talk the talk but can’t walk the walk. Guys like Lammons and Felton were talking smack and then got embarrassed on the field. Once we get the required top tier talent coupled with the coaching, then we will be contenders! Go Gamecocks!!!

1. It wasn't the QB.
2. Skai was trying to back off but the Tater dragged him down as they fell over the camera man. Should have been a no call.

This is the attitude we're missing. Some may not like it, but we were absolutely in their heads then.

DJ setting the tone in warm ups...

It is a lot easier to win the mental game when you are also a much better team physically. Let's face it. We had a razor thin margin of error to have a chance in that game. I'm sure it didn't take long for our players to figure that it wasn't going well, and that is a quick way to lose the mental edge. That's still no excuse for jawing after every play, though.

back at you bud

I was always taught that you keep your mouth shut and let your play talk louder than your words. That being said, when you are beating the other team or better than them, it is much easier to talk snack and laugh at your opponent as the tiggers did in the past 2-4 games vs us. We will get back but they are setting a very high bar.
