Hawaii Pulls out of Hawaii Bowl

Oh, good call. Didn’t even think about the fact that it was tomorrow. I swear Christmas snuck up on me big time this year. Feels like I have another week, even though I know it’s Christmas Eve tomorrow.
Won’t be shocked a bit to see 4-5 bowl games cancelled when all is said and done. Especially teams with a lot of transfers.
Pulling out never works.
As for their opponent Memphis, there are much worse things that could happen, then being "stuck" in Hawaii for a few extra days.
I guarantee you some of them were happy to find out they weren’t playing.
Pretty bad if a team or a league gets stuck for expenses that never get remitted from the anticipated revenue.
I'm guessing here, but I would imagine that since Memphis had all intentions of playing, and the liability does not lie with them, then they would be entitled to monies mentioned in the contract. Again, just guessing on my part.

That's plausible. But there have been cases where that money didn't even cover expenses when the game was actually played. It happened to UPC when they played in the Potato Bowl. The ACC had to subsidize UPC for appearing just so the school didn't lose money. In effect, the league took a loss for a game that was played.
And travel to Hawaii is more expensive than Idaho.
But if I was Memphis, I'd enjoy the free vacation.
Maybe they could scrimmage themselves at the bowl, just for entertainment.

If bowls have to pay up for games cancelled due to COVID protocols, then I predict there will be very few bowl sponsors next year.
This is so stupid... Play the damn game... This is almost like a cold, play with the other players who are not stick...
Hawaii just didn't want to lose with player with lesser players on the team... This is more than a canceled game, TV networks will lose money and commercials who paid for this game to be played on Christmas day... Send University of Hawaii the bill and put a forfeit next to their record. They need to pay Memphis back on expenses..
Had 2 friends die in the last 7 days...yeah just a cold.
People do die from the flu, bad colds cancer and etc... Sorry for your loss, but its part of life...
My father-in-law died from complications of parkinson's... You'll die, I'll die, will all will die from something.. Don't morn the loss, celebrate the life they lived... Again it's the circle of life we all live...
