Or, maybe better, how to give yourself a chance against UGA in three easy steps.

1). On offense, play a more traditional style and let your offensive line drive block, hat on hat. The RPO zone blocking scheme has been a consistent failure. Screens, drags, and the deep outs to keep them honest. Stay away from the fades to the boundary(which seems to be our favorite red zone play)....dawgs are too fast for that, and it’s a dang hard throw, unless you’re Eric Kimrey. Accumulate a few first downs and play field position...keep it close and try to steal it late. Use Charlton as a weapon.

2). Use up the clock and utilize some hard counts and “no-plays”, particularly when they are in two technique. We may or may not catch them in the neutral zone, but we will force that tiny split-second delay at the snap. They can be penalty prone, so let’s try to bait them into some 1st and 5’s along the way. Going fast can really backfire if you aren’t accumulating first downs.

3) On defense, stick to the 4-3 and force them into two tight end sets if they want to run the ball. Make JF beat you....and make no mistake, he can, but that is still a better recipe than a 5th defensive back and allowing them to pound the ball. I like our front seven speed against the monsters up front for UGA when we have numbers. If we can keep pressure on JF so our db’s Don’t have to stay with their receivers very long, we have a much better chance than having an extra safety. When we sent one extra against Bama, we had Tua dancing. They hit the big slant, and we went away from that strategy. We need to stick to it....sometimes the other guys will make a great play, but you have to coach to their primary plan, not the exception.

If we can do all that, it’s not impossible, just slightly less improbable. Man, wouldn’t it be fun to beat that bunch between the hedges.
