Hugh Freeze Resigns (Escorts Involved?)

Quote is from Ole Miss AD:

On whether players may leave the program: “It’s hard to say right now.” Said many of them are in summer school. “We will give them space. We will listen, and we will support whatever they decide to do.”

Sounds like he just gave them the green light to transfer. I hope Boom is in Oxford tomorrow ready to speak with their best players.

Talking season just ended. It's now poaching season.

Why the NCAA didn't poke around Clempson after the 2011 recruiting season ended is a mystery. They were going nowhere before hauling in (4) 5-star players, and multiple 4-stars from out-of-state following a head coaching change, multiple assistant coaching changes over 2 seasons, and a losing season in 2010. How does that happen?

Their history suggests otherwise.

This!

Our run was fueled by getting the best players from SC. There were a few like Shaw and Cooper, but Shaw was a 3-star from GA, and Cooper was a 4-star from NC. We didn't have a losing season followed by a top 10-15 recruiting class with multiple out-of-state 4-5 star players.

Technically, if he was the one visiting the escort, he didn't break any recruiting rules. Maybe marriage vows, but not recruiting rules.

True but not a huge stretch to believe if he was doing that sort of thing that he would have an issue breaking the rules in recruiting. Either you have character or you don't

Lol, this is not what I expected Freeze to be fired over. The irony of "it's okay to cheat and pay players but DO NOT call a hooker on a university phone" makes me laugh.

When will the NCAA investigate Clemson?????????????????????????????????????????????????

Never cease to amaze how many prominent men throw away everything, job, family, reputation for sex with a escort..
Don't be so sure it was for Hugh, remember what happened with the basketball team at Louisville. Could have easily been setting up his players.

give Clemons credit for knowing how to get away with it...Heck they caught Auburn and did nothing about it...UNC will get off as well...Ole Mi$$ should go to court and claim selective prosecution

Well I hope for the sake of the fans of Ole Miss they enjoyed the last couple of years, because it may be quite a while before they see some good times again

Gotta tip your hat to the programs that know how to cheat regularly without hardly ever getting caught.

please...they'll hire a new coach and be back on their feet after a year of sanctions..the only sanction that lasts is losing...

I don't think so. Before they started cheating the only time Ole Miss was any good in the last 40 years was during Eli Manning's time there. And even in Freeze's peak season, the Rebels only won 10 games. Hell, even we won 11 games 3 years in a row. It's going to be rocky for them in the foreseeable future. It will be interesting to see who wants that job.

Crazy this close to the season. Seems like no team besides Clemson cheated in recruiting more than Ole Miss and Hugh Freeze. There must have been some damning evidence of cheating found recently to force a resignation like this.

EDIT: Escort Service was called by Freeze?

Also Houston Nutt had that lawsuit against Ole Miss because Hugh and the gang tried to pass all the controversy onto Houston Nutt's name.

EDIT: Some are saying that Houston Nutt released phone calls of Freeze calling an Escort service.

I wonder what the Moms of the recruits and players think of this Escort services????

How much more money they could have gotten without the Escort services...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but so far the NCAA technically had nothing to do with Freeze leaving. The escort discovery came from the Nutt lawsuit. Ole Miss administration may have been upset about the NCAA snooping around and wanted an excuse to get rid of Freeze.

I believe they would have had to pay him if they fired him over the NCAA investigation. Or, at the very least, he would have had grounds for a lawsuit. However, there's no way he's going to fight these escort allegations. In fact didn't he technically resign?

Depends on how is contract is written. I can totally believe that a university would insist on a clause making major NCAA rules infractions that could be directly tied to the coach a for-cause termination that nullifies the contract.

I'm sure you're right. But in this particular case, Ole Miss is fighting the allegations. It would have been difficult to fire Freeze with cause on one hand and fight the NCAA with the other. The escort scandal allowed Ole Miss to get rid of Freeze without admitting guilt on the NCAA violations.

They're not fighting all the allegations, because they've already self-imposed sanctions. That is an admission that violations occurred.

From the Ole Miss site, he had a "moral turpitude" clause in his contract and the AD announced they weren't paying him. The veracity of that statement would be pretty easy to check out down the road since it is a public institution.

This could never happen at Klepsun no way any decent escort would have anything to do with their players.
No whores at Clemson forced players to fondle opposing players when they were on the ground.

I was 100 pct certain that Ole Miss was guilty of illegal infractions for years.

I'm 110 pct sure the same thing is going on at Clemson.

Unfortunately Ole Miss was the scapegoat.

Sigh
Dabo's been at Clemson for 10 years now. There isn't even the smallest breath of potential scandal with the program. I mean, seriously, engage your brain.

"Why the NCAA didn't poke around Clemson after the 2011 recruiting season ended is a mystery." The only mystery is why the NCAA hasn't investigated Steve Spurrier for raping your football program for basically his last 3 years there. It's just moronic to wonder why one of the best 3 recruiting staffs in the country managed to get high-quality players to come play for an obviously up-and-coming program. Ole Miss picked up 3 of the top 20 players in the nation the first years Frieze was there. That would be suspicious.

Heard a rumor that another SEC school turned Ole Miss in (I'm not owning the rumor, just saying I heard it ).
In any event if that is indeed true, it wouldn't be a school that lost two them twice and almost 3 times in a row. I mean no way Saban would stoop to that level. (inset massive sarcasm)
